Welcome to Republic City

My foot steps off the metal ramp leading down from the large ship I had just taken. I look around to see the large buildings of Republic City. My eyes have never laid on such a sight as this.

"Hey!" I call to one of the people unloading cargo from the boat, "Where's the pro-bending arena?"

The man looks up at me with shock and points to a large dome-shaped building on the coast of the city, not far from where I stand. I walk past the man without another word.

The streets are bustling with people; I constantly have to push them out of my way until the dome-shaped building finally stands before me. Opening the large doors, I walk up to a short bald man sitting in a ticket booth, "Sorry, but there's no match today." He says as I draw near.

"I'm not looking for tickets." I stop in front of the booth, "I want to join a pro-bending team."

"Well..." The man taps his chin before saying, "What type of bender are you?"

"I'm a firebender," I state blandly. The man claps his hands together excitedly, "That's great! There's an opening in one of our best teams! Though..."

"What?" I spit, "Do you think I'm not qualified?!"

"Oh, no! It's not that... They're just a little... Eccentric."

"I can handle eccentric. Where can I find this team?" I grumble.

"They're not here at the moment. But I think I know where they might be."

-

I open the door to the restaurant – Narook's Seaweed Noodlery – and I spot the men that the old man had described, sitting in a booth with a couple of ladies tucked under their arms.

I walk up to the table, leaning onto it menacingly, "Are you Tahno?" I ask a greasy-looking man, with slick, dark hair.

"I might be. Who's asking?" He smirks up at me. I slam my hands on the table, "Don't waste my time! Do you need a new firebender for your team or not?"

"And what makes you think that you're even good enough for my team?"

A burst of blue flames comes out of my hand like a knife. I bring it down, cutting the table and everything on it perfectly in half, "Is that good enough for you?" I stare at him coldly.

Tahno smiles evilly, "Welcome to the White Falls Wolfbats." He shoos away the girl sitting next to him and he gestures for me to sit, "We have much to talk about."

I sit in the chair across from him. The split table sitting in between us, "Like what?"

"What is someone with your skills doing in Republic City? I've never seen someone with flames that colour."

"Not that I think it matters, but my life has been pretty boring so far. I've come here to finally give myself some fulfillment."

"Well, you've come to the right place."

"When do I start?"

-

The employee at the hotel has their head ducked down, looking over the papers scattered on their desk. I clear my throat and their head snaps up, "I would like the best room you have."

"Are you sure you have the money for that, young lady?"

I place several bills on the desk and slide them over to him, "This should be enough."

His eyes widen as he looks at the amount of money I have just placed in front of him. He quickly stands up, grabbing a set of keys off of the wall behind him, "Uh... Top floor miss, last room on your right."

"Thank you!" I smile overdramatically before dropping my face back into a frown as soon as I turn away from the man.

I take the elevator up to the top floor and get to the door to my room, unlocking it and closing the door behind me. The room is large, with a set of living furniture and a big bed. I throw my bag onto the couch and move to the bed, flopping onto my back.

"You better be ready for me, Republic City."
