Korra, Mako, and I walk down the large drainage pipe, which leads us to the ocean, which through the power of Korra's waterbending, leads up to Air Temple Island.
As we arrive on the rocky shores, I pull my chi blocker mask on and everything in my vision becomes green due to the weird lenses.
As we get to the main courtyard of the island, Amon can be seen boarding a large airship, "There's Amon." Korra points out.
"We need to get into the temple. Then, when he returns..." Mako starts.
"We ambush him." Korra finishes.
"Ugh! You two even finish each other's sentences." I groan. We sneak out from behind our cover of the bushes. Stepping a few feet into the courtyard, a voice stops us, "What are you three doing here?"
"Uh, we were just transferred." Mako comes up with a quick response.
"Well, you're getting transferred again. Amon wants extra security at the arena today."
"The arena? For what?" Mako questions.
"The rally. You should've been briefed about this."
Korra bows, "We'll be there, sir." I give a small, effortless bow as well before trailing off with my team, "I know another way in." Korra whispers.
The three of us sneak and slink across the island before Korra opens a wooden panel in one of the walls. We get inside one of the buildings and once we reach the top floor Korra points to the ceiling, "Let's hide in the attic."
We climb up with a ladder and through a trap door at the top. Once I got up the ladder, I expected there to just be old furniture and ugly family portraits that no one wanted to hang on the walls anymore. But instead, there is a prison cell made of wood. And this cell is not empty, Tarrlok is sitting hunched over inside it.
"Uh, we're not alone up here." Mako points out the obvious.
"Tarrlok?" Korra says as she takes off her mask and walks over to the cell.
"I don't suppose you're here to rescue me." He says in a hoarse voice.
"We had no idea you were here. Are there other prisoners on the island?" Korra asks.
"No, I'm the only one."
"And what makes you so special?"
"I'm Amon's brother. Amon is from the Northern Water Tribe. He's a waterbender and a bloodbender, just like I was." Tarrlok explains.
Tarrlok continues to tell his sob story of a life while Mako and Korra ask the occasional question. I would have left by now out of boredom if I didn't have to take Amon down.
"That's one of the saddest stories I've ever heard," Korra says once he's done.
"Avatar Korra. I am truly sorry for all that I did to you. I thought I was better than my father, but his ghost still shaped me. I became a soldier of revenge, just like he wanted me to be. And so did my brother. The revolution may be built on a lie, but I think Amon truly believes bending is the source of all evil in the world."
"How did you figure out Amon is your brother?" Mako questions.
"When he took my bending, the sensation was somehow familiar. I later recognized it as my brother's bloodbending grip."
"So, he somehow uses bloodbending to take people's bending." Korra thinks aloud.
"I don't know how he does it, but then again, I've never encountered a bender as strong as Noatak."
