Y/N'S POV;
The quiet house gave me some sort of peace. Of course, when Jay is here it would still be quiet but our invisible tension didn't make things calm. It felt a little lighter today. I've tried talking to Jay, but he would only give short replies. I guess he's still mad at me.
I want to apologize again. I hate how distant we have been. The sound of the front door unlocking made me sit up. I quickly ran down the stairs in hopes of finding him in a good mood.
"Oh, hey, Y/n!" My eyes widened in surprise. "Sunghoon, hi! Is Jake not with you two?" Sunghoon shook his head. "He said he's going to be busy today." "Ah, I see."
They both sat in the living room and ate their lunch. I let out a heavy sigh. I guess I'm going to have to find another opportunity to talk to Jay. That's if I still have the courage to.
"I made smoothies." I gave Jay and Sunghoon each a cup with a soft smile, in hopes things won't be too awkward. I was about to leave but Jay's voice stopped me. "Sit." I looked at him in nervously. Jay talked to me first. I didn't quite care if he sounded dry, I'm just glad he knew I still existed.
I looked at Sunghoon for some sort of reassurance and he gave me a soft nod. I sat down with them on the couch, holding my smoothie.
"So I heard you were going on a date." The tone of Jay's voice sent chills down my spine. "Uhm, Jina tried to get me to go on a date with this guy named Jeha, but we never really made plans..." I explained quickly, hoping Jay wouldn't scold me.
Jay didn't say anything afterward and that made the atmosphere turn cold real quick. Sunghoon noticed how the mood changed. "Uh... Jake tried to stop it from happening if that helps—" "Wait, Jay didn't ask Jake to watch out for me?" I asked, furrowing my eyebrows in confusion. Jay then raised his eyebrow and set his cup down. "I didn't. I assume you were at the club then?"
I didn't know how to feel about this question. Should I be mad that he's treating me like a baby? "Well, yeah. I am 20 now, you know." "You go out to party too much." I scoffed at Jay's comment and folded my arms. "Can't I just go out with my friends?!" "Sure you can! But clearly, you partying didn't go too well when you met Heeseung at Jina's party did it?"
It was silent for a moment. I saw Sunghoon sitting between us rather...uncomfortably. "You guys, how about we—" "I'm leaving," I said and stood up. All I need is fresh air right now. I unlocked the door aggressively and swung the door up.
"Woah there, what did the poor door ever do to you?" I only stood there in silence. "What's with this dead mood?" Jake asked and peeked his head in for a quick scan.
"Are you okay?" "Leave her be, Jake," I heard Jay say. I let out a scoff, rolling my eyes. "Weren't you busy? Are you free?" Sunghoon asked. "Uh... actually I said I was busy because I was gonna hang with Y/n..." "Ah, is this because you didn't want Jeha to go on a date with her so you wanted to instead?" Jake nervously licked his lips at Sunghoon's remark. "Yeah."
"Oh come on, we barely hang out these days," I heard Jay say, trying to convince Jake. I shook my head and sighed, passing by Jake. "Uh... another time, promise!" I hear Jake's voice from a few feet behind me before he catches up to me.
"Wouldn't you rather hang out with them? Jay's right, you haven't been hanging out together recently, especially the whole group and that's partially my fault." "Don't worry about it, Y/n. Things will work out... besides, I said I was gonna take you out right? Don't want you hanging with some stranger." I chuckled, feeling a bit relieved now that Jake was trying to lift the mood up.
