Y/N'S POV;
It's been about a week since Sunghoon found out Heeseung and I were still seeing each other. I knew he wouldn't tell anyone, but I still felt anxious. I told Heeseung not long after my talk with Sunghoon and we promised each other to keep things lowkey.
"Y/N, CAN YOU GO BUY SOME SODAS!" I hear Jay yell from downstairs. I groaned and rolled my eyes in annoyance. I sat up and ran downstairs. "WHAT FOR!"
"Party at Heeseung's tonight," Jay replied as he packed some red solo cups. "And no, you can NOT come," he strictly says before I could even ask to go.
"Why not?!"
"You kissed Jake at the last party and don't forget what happened with Hee—"
"Okay, I won't go."
Jay raised his eyebrow in confusion but nodded. I left the house and walked to our nearest convenience store.
I picked up a couple of soda packages and saw a familiar figure checking out. "Jaeyun-ah!"
His head turned around in surprise then smiled. "Hey!" "Hey! Are you here to buy stuff for tonight's party too?" I asked as I checked my items out. "Yeah, I grabbed some paper plates."
"You coming tonight?"
"Nah, Jay won't let me."
Jake chuckled, "Let me guess, you've been troublesome?" My jaw dropped. "I am offended." "I'm right though, right?" he asked again, teasing me. I rolled my eyes and sighed. "Yes..."
Jake laughed again. I playfully smacked his shoulder as we walked out of the store. "You're to blame too!" "Me? What did I do?!" Jake gasped out dramatically. "Jay used us kissing at the last party against me!"
Jake's eyes widened then he rubbed the nape of his neck awkwardly. "But it's fine! That was nothing! He mentioned Heeseung so..." Jake softly smiled and nodded.
"Let me walk you home," he offered me, breaking the awkward silence. "No, it's okay, you're gonna have to walk an extra 10 minutes—" "I insist," he cuts me off. I gave in and nodded.
We walked in silence side by side and didn't say much. Soon, we reached the front door of my home. I turned around and waved. "See you, Jaeyun." He waved back with a soft smile.
"Y/n."
I turned around when I felt him grab my wrist gently. I waited for him to say something but he just stared at me, unsure of what to say.
"What's up, Jake?"
"Uh... I— Nevermind."
I chuckled at his silly behavior and turned back around to punch the code in.
"Y/n, I think I like you."
My hand on the door handle froze. My whole body froze. Was I hearing things? I slowly turned my body around with knitted eyebrows.
"Jake... what?" His hand let go of my wrist and he took a breath in. "You're the girl I like," he confessed again. I was shocked, surprised, and confused. "Jake, I–" "I know. You don't feel the same. I know. I just wanted to tell you so I could move on."
He paused for a second and spoke again. "I kept denying it because you're my childhood friend and my best friend's younger sister. I didn't want to believe it but I ended up accepting it."
I looked down at my feet feeling awfully bad. "Hey, it's okay. I value our friendship already, this won't change anything, okay?" I looked up, meeting his eyes, and nodded. "Don't feel so bad, hm? It's not like I fell madly in love with you or anything," he says with a short chuckle to cheer me up.
