Chapter 20

The sound of shattered glass echoed through the four walls of this massive office. I didn't budge at all and just crossed my legs while staring at the raging old man in front of me.

"After all that you've done to make us fall down, how dare you come here and ask for my daughter's hand!?"

I chuckled and clasped my hands on top of my lap. "Sir, your company is not totally bankrupt."

"Pero papunta na duon! At kasalanan mo iyon! Alam kong ikaw ang nasa likod ng lahat ng ito!"

My smile vanished. I kept my straight face and stood up from my seat while buttoning my blazer. I came here lightheaded, but now I want to punch something hard until my knuckles bleed.

"This is your daughter's fault, Mr. Imperial. She's being too hard on me. And about your company, I can help you bring it back on top; just let me have her in return," - I said calmly.

"Who do you think you are to demand me? Cassiopiea is my sole heir, my only daughter; I can't sacrifice her to someone like you! She deserves better than this!"

"It's not just your family life that is at stake; it's your relatives too. If you keep on being firm, I don't have a choice but to make you guys lose all your wealth. If you guys fall down, Cassiopiea will be a nobody; no one will want her the way I do. And instead of being a model, she might end up just a fucking bed warmer of those old men in the industry."

A sinister smile crept on my lips when I saw him tremble in fear.

"You can't do this! I'll ask the Spencers to help me."

"Really? The old Spencer knows my father, and let's say they have the connection?"  - I chuckled when his brows furrowed. "You'll drag those highly respected Spencers into this problem? Yeah, they're filthy rich, but you know very well that they hate controversial stuff that may put their surname into shame. They have class and can be kind, but not that friendly to everybody that will use them and their names for something they're not concerned with."

I took a step forward and let my heels stomp on the broken glass. I heard a crack, and it made me smile even more.

"If you want to fix this matter between us, tell your daughter to come to me. I can put everything back to normal if she kneels in front of me."

"You're insane for doing this! My daughter is not a thing that you can play with, woman!"

Naiinis na tinakpan ko ang tainga ko at tinignan sya ng masama.

"You talk too much, Daddy?" - I tease and tilt my head. "Do you want to sleep forever?"

"Damn you, Chevalier!"

Humalakhak ako at tinalikuran sya. Nagpamulsa ako sa slacks ko at pinihit ang doorknob.

"Don't forget to tell your daughter to come to me. I'll be waiting for her."

I turn on the music and smile when the instrumental sounds resonate in the air. I turn around and dance while holding the glass of wine.

Wherever I look, all I can see is her face. display her pictures on the wall of my office. Seeing her face motivates me to be alive every single day.
