Ellen wanted the moment she told her husband they were going to have a baby to be perfect. She made a special dinner with some of his favorite foods. She wore one of his favorite dresses, left her hair loose, cascading down her back the way he loved, and made certain to apply just enough of his favorite rose- scented perfume. The lights were dim, soft music playing as well to be sure he would be at his most relaxed.
Unfortunately instead, Mike was in a particularly foul mood when he came home that evening, having had a long, extremely annoying day at work he felt compelled to tell her about in detail.
"Ellen, whatever it is, I can't deal right now," he said when she tried to broach the subject on her mind during a lull in his monolog of grievances. "I just want dinner, maybe a hot bath, and then to get into bed for some good lovin' from my wife."
"But Michael, if you'll hear me out..."
"Please Baby, just let me be for now."
She acquiesced with a sigh and followed him into the kitchen where she'd kept his plate of food warm for him. She watched him eat in silence, filled with nervous anticipation. What would his reaction to her unexpected pregnancy be, particularly when he was grouchy already?
Thankfully his mood seemed to improve slightly as it usually did once he'd had at least ONE type of hunger satisfied. He even gave her a tentative smile as he assured her, "Great as always."
If she knew her husband (and she did), he would now wish to sate another appetite all together. Sure enough he remarked once he'd pollshed off the last crumb , "Now I could do with something sweet. How about some sugar from my sweetheart?"
"I thought you'd never ask Luv."
She settled on his knee, her arms around his waist, kissed him.
"Just what I needed. I'm sorry I'm such a moody bastard. It was just a lousy day. You're making me feel a lot better though."
His hands entwined in her hair, caressed her back in her silky dress then settled on her ass, squeezing gently. "How about you put Daddy to bed now?"
She chuckled at the term he'd unknowingly used. " I really do need to tell you something first."
"Now? Can't you just screw me senseless, let me pass out and then tell me in the morning?"
"I think you should hear this right away."
"All right, if you insist Honey. Lay it on me."
She whispered the news in his ear, brushed a kiss against the tiny mole at the side of his neck.
"I must be so tired that I'm already driftin' off and hearing things, cause I swear you just said you're pregnant."
"I did," she insisted with another kiss.
He met her eyes. "Are you sure? I thought you were on the pill."
"I was. Those swimmers of yours must be especially determined. It's you, so of course they WOULD be, wouldn't they?" She smiled.
His face formed a quite self-satisfied grin, veering close to an actual smirk. "Mike Nesmith ALWAYS gets the job done Baby. I guess I owe Bob that steak dinner after all."
He rested a hand against her as yet still flat stomach. "My son or daughter is growing in there right now."
"I was a bit concerned about what you'd think. We hadn't planned on a baby. We hadn't really even TALKED about it."
"Are you kidding? I didn't think I could be any happier than when you made me your husband, but I think you making me a daddy again has even got THAT beat." He kissed her gently. "I love you my sweet Marie."
His mouth drifted to nibble on her ear, her neck. "Now can we celebrate the news with a relaxing hot bath followed by a not so relaxing hot fuck? Or vice versa, whichever my lady prefers."
"I'll draw the bath. You get naked and meet me in there...Daddy."
