The memorial for Brian did not take place until the middle of October. By then Ellen was six months pregnant and definitely did not feel capable of flying three thousand miles. She and Mike sent a heartfelt note and a flower arrangement instead.
It was around the same time that the event took place which would alter the Nesmiths' marriage forever. In truth it nearly ended it. At the time it had seemed inconsequential, a moment not unlike dozens or even hundreds that had preceded it, but this one would prove to have permanent repercussions.
It started when Peter led a blonde-haired, blue-eyed young woman of Israeli descent named Nurit Wilde onto the set who would be appearing as an extra in that week's episode, "Monkees In Texas." She had been hired largely because of her friendship with the bassist and because of her occupation as a semi-professional photographer who had taken pictures of various bands as well as (or so rumor had it) sleeping with them.
She was merely pretty at best, but she seemed to compensate for it with sheer determination. It was said that she counted amongst her former paramours John Phillips of The Mamas and The Papas, David Crosby, and at least one member of The Lovin' Spoonful.
It became apparent almost immediately that her latest target was none other than the moody, somewhat mysterious and very married Monkee, Michael Nesmith. As soon as Peter introduced them she seemed to find all sorts of excuses to remain in his immediate vicinity, engaging him in conversation whenever possible, subsequently, after a very short time, resorting to flattery and even indulging in outright flirting.

Mike took it all in stride, remaining somewhat aloof, actually indifferent, which conversely only seemed to make Nurit want him more. She truthfully loved the ones who played hard to get. It only made the eventual, inevitable surrender that much sweeter.
Of course this one was certain to be pretty sweet already. She'd heard the rumors like everyone else. He professed to adore his wife (perhaps even DID), but that in no way prevented him from cheating with numerous other women. She'd been told by usually quite reliable sources that as far as sheer volume went, his number of conquests exceeded those of all his band mates-with good reason. The man was said to be extremely blessed, and all the women fortunate enough to experience that magnificent cock first-hand were unanimous in stating that he also knew exactly what to do with it.
Nurit grew wet just thinking about it. She decided that she HAD to have him for herself, and if he was as good as she'd been told, she didn't mind waiting until he'd finished playing whatever little games he wanted to play. His pregnant wife at home never once even entered her mind.

She had the look, the one he'd come to recognize quite easily by now as a woman's 'fuck me' look. She'd been flashing it at him in bright neon for days now, almost since he'd met her, and he'd been wondering if he should take her up on the offer, put the chick out of her misery.
She wasn't necessarily his type, tall, blonde with perfect, not too big, not too small tits. (Of course thanks to his gorgeous wife, he'd also developed a penchant for the ever elusive red head.) This one was blonde but somewhat petite and fairly flat chested. She was pretty-not anywhere NEAR the woman waiting for him at home though, the woman who would quite enthusiastically encourage him to fuck her in almost every way imaginable even now when she was already close to the third trimester of pregnancy.
The only advantage Nurit Wilde possessed over Ellen was that she seemed to have a fantastic gift for fawning. His wife loved him, was quite affectionate with him, but she was in no way an ass kisser. She called him on his bullshit ( albeit gently) at every opportunity, and she could take everything he dished out. She would quite eagerly suck his dick like a pro, but she didn't suck UP.

Nurit was all ABOUT sucking up, was in fact a master at it. She behaved as if she thought he was the greatest thing since sliced bread. That could become annoying quite fast of course. In truth he loved Ellen's spirit, that she hadn't succumbed to the 'I'm fucking a Monkee' syndrome, but every now and then it was really nice to be treated as if you were God's gift.
It would make Nurit an interesting lay no doubt. She'd probably cream just to have him TOUCH her.

Finally, after another day of shameless flirting on her part, his perpetual erection decided him. "Get ready Little Lady. I'm about to make your day."

It was as easy as he knew it would be. She was hanging around taking pictures like she'd been doing, giving him frequent suggestive smiles, just RADIATING 'I want you' when he walked over, bent to whisper in her ear, "My dressing room in a half hour if you're down."
Mike Nesmith never needed pick-up lines. The direct approach always worked just fine. She showed up in twenty-five. Within five to ten minutes after THAT, they were fucking on the ratty couch where he'd had his future wife on a few occasions and a prodigious number of other women since.

Not bad at all. She'd been just as grateful and enthusiastic as he'd figured she'd be, even when he got a bit rough with her. She'd be walking funny for sure. Well that would only make the stories of his prowess even more prevalent wouldn't it. He knew all about those of course. He was actually considered quite the stud. It was a perception it was quite gratifying to cultivate. It was his promiscuity's only purpose. The women were there to serve his ego nothing else. It wasn't as if he lied about that either. He'd already given Nurit the talk he gave them all. It couldn't, wouldn't mean anything. He loved his wife, and he would never even CONSIDER leaving her. If she didn't accept that then she could simply say no to the fuck, and there'd be no hard feelings. Even knowing the cold hard truth, very few had ever said no thanks. A couple had been slightly miffed with his consistent 'one and done' policy and wanted a repeater, but none had ended up fighting it too hard or causing trouble about it. No doubt this would play out the same way. Nurit had been around; she knew the score.
Now that it was over, he probably wouldn't give her another thought. It was time to go home, be with the woman who loved him, who made him feel like no other woman could ever HOPE to. He allowed them to have his body for a few stolen moments, but it was only his wife who had his heart, his soul. Just the thought of her smile, the welcoming kiss she always gave him when he came home left him feeling like a giddy schoolboy with a crush. He was still entirely infatuated with her, smitten. Returning to her every night was like his own taste of paradise, and he couldn't wait.

Mike did indeed write "Magnolia Simms" for Nurit
