In a dark, cozy room
I lay against a warm body
Pressed soothingly close
Radiating heat
Under the cloud-soft blankets
My arm wrapped around them tightly
The only discomfort a thought
Of losing them
And I feel their body move
To bring me in closer
Understanding my needs
My selfish desires
Providing soothing words
To ease my insecurities
In a way I never could
"Will you always love me?"
I whisper
"I can't imagine a world without you,"
The response, an arrow through my chest
Coated with poison that spread
So why when I open my eyes
Do I see a dark, cold room
With a motionless pillow beside me
That I desperately clung to
Under the thin, chilling blanket
