THE FIRST FEW WEEKS leading up to the first Quidditch game of the season was brutal. The Potter siblings have spent every morning up at the pitch, bright and early.
They've would've been drowning in homework if it wasn't for Hermione. Mia didn't feel very lucky that her birthday fell onto the first of the season, but it wasn't like there was anything else to do.
Harry gave his sister a smile when he took his seat at the table, mouthing the words 'happy birthday'
Mia smiled back at him before glaring down at her food. "You two need to eat something. Come on." Ron told them, glancing at their plates.
Hermione nodded, agreeing "Ron's right. You're gonna need your strength today."
"If I do, I'll hurl right on the pitch when I step anywhere near it." Mia sighed.
"Good luck today, Potters." The four froze at the sound of Professor Snape, who was standing awkwardly. "Then again, now that you've proven yourself against a troll, a little game of Quidditch should be easy work for you, even if it's against Slytherin." Snape started to walk off, limping as he went but stopped to glance at Mia.
"Happy birthday, Euphemia."
Almost the entire Gryffindor table went silent as everyone turned to stare at Mia, who let out a groan as she tried to cover her face.
"ITS YOUR BIRTHDAY?!"
Mia immediately shushed Fred, before she sighed "I'm sorry I didn't tell any of you. It slipped my mind and honestly it's not a big deal." The now thirteen year old glanced at her friends, who all still stared.
Fred opened his mouth, ready to voice his thoughts but he was cut off by a noise. Mia looked up to see Hedwig flying towards them. The siblings stood up just as Hedwig dropped two wrapped boxes into their hands.
Mia stared at the box in confusion, she didn't tell anyone it was her birthday so what could the box be? Harry and Mia opened their packages to reveal two new broomsticks.
"Those are Nimbus 2000s!" Ron exclaimed as the siblings stared at the brooms in shock. They glanced at each other, before looking around the room, only to land on Professor McGonagall, who was giving them a bright smile as she petted Hedwig.

By eleven o'clock the whole school seemed to be out in the stands around the Quidditch pitch. Many students had binoculars, since it was hard to see what was happening sometimes.
