She had totally forgotten about the Sorting.
Mia was hungry, exhausted and also very mad, thanks to her brother. She hasn't made a peep to anyone since they all sat down at the Gryffindor table.
Mia was ignoring all of that, wanting to focus for Ginny. "What's wrong?" Someone whispered into her ear.
"Hungry." Mia replied.
Seconds later, a bowl of strawberries appeared in front of her face. Mia didn't hesitate to snatch one, biting into it. The girl turned her head towards Fred, giving him a confused look.
"Strawberries aren't usually served for dinner," Fred shrugged, smiling softly "So I grabbed you some."
"Thank you." Mia whispered, giving the boy a smile before digging into the bowl. Just then, Professor McGonagall had called out a name that caught most of the Gryffindors' attention.
"Finnigan, Shannon!"
Mouth open in shock as everyone turned their heads to Seamus, who had his hands clasped together, chanting "Don't be Gryffindor..."
The young girl had her brown hair styled into two braids, which swayed back and forth as she skipped to the stool that Professor McGonagall stood beside. The Gryffindor students all shared looks of confusion and surprise; it seemed no one knew that Seamus had a sister.
"GRYFFINDOR!"
Seamus slumped in his seat, groaning as the rest of the table cheered and clapped. Shannon made her way to the Gryffindors, pausing for a second as she looked up and down the table until her gaze landed on her brother.
"Shay!"
The Gryffindors watched as Shannon wrapped her arms around Seamus' neck and squeezed. Some of the boys had started to laugh at how red in the face Seamus was. "Christ, Shan! Sit down." Seamus hissed, making Shannon frown, but she complied as she squished herself between Dean and her brother.
The group of students in front of McGonagall was slowly decreasing as the Sorting continued. Thankfully, Mia didn't care for the long wait since she was happily eating her strawberries but it also helped that Fred was whispering jokes into her ear.
Professor McGonagall was reaching to the end of the alphabet when something strange happened.
"Tonks, Leo!"
The name didn't spark any familiarity to Mia, but it seemed the Hufflepuffs knew of the boy as their entire table had lit up. "What was that?" Mia whispered, glancing up at Fred to see his attention was also on the boy.
