"Look men, this is probably the most dangerous mission we've ever faced and I caused it." I say.
I jump down from the stern.
"So, we're going to kill the mother of all monsters?" Rex slides down.
"I'm not asking any of you to come. This is my fault." I say.
"Captain, with all due respect, we followed you to the end of the world." Kale says.
"I'm not leaving you and Marina." Rex says.
"We're not leaving you." Marina puts her hand on my shoulder.
"I'm coming to." Proteus jumps aboard.
I let out a breath.
"Kale take us out." I say.
"Aye aye captain." Kale says.
The boat starts pulling out to shore. I grab a net and look outward. I can feel the sea watching me. I can feel Poseidon's eyes on me. I let out a breath. Follow the North Star to jagged teeth and an open jaw. The layer of Echidna. I followed the North Star to the end of the world. To Tartarus. How hard can this be?
"I've always wanted to tail with you." Proteus climbs up.
"You might regret those words later." I say.
"Hey, don't worry boys, I'll keep you safe." Marina smiles.
