"So, Poseidon must really hate you." She comments.

"Yeah, that sums it up." I say.

I reach for my knife. She pulls me closer to her. Her eyes are fixed on me. This could be my chance. I just need her to keep talking. Her breath is foul. I look up at her. She squeezes tighter and tighter. I feel like my bones are breaking. I wince.

"Why do you think I won't kill you?" I ask.

"You? Kill me? How silly are you? I am Echidna. I am the mother of all Monsters." She hisses.

"I've crushed creatures higher than you." I say.

She squeezes her hand around me tighter. In a massive jolt. Blood escapes my mouth. She glares at me. My heart tightens as I grip te knife. I look down. Marina looks like she's about to scream. I wink at her.

"Me?! Don't be a fool!" She yells.

I thought my ears would break. I take out my knife.

"Maybe you're the blind fool." I slam my knife into her eye.

She screams and throws me farther into the cave. I slam into the ground. Hard. Proteus runs over and helps me up. Her hand comes swinging. I push him back as her nail slices open my chest like a fish. I wince as I grip the wound. Her other eye flashes red.

"How dare you!" She yells.

Marina throws a heavy rock at Echidna. She turns and glares at her.

"Leave him alone!" Marina yells.

She searches and throws herself forward.

"Run!" I yell.

Marina runs and start's running fast. Echidna chases her through a maze of teeth. I shakily stand up. Proteus grabs me. I look at my wound. Yeah... that's pretty deep. I'll be fine. I have bigger things to worry about.

"Enough!" Echidna turns to us.
