"Rex all eyes forward." I say.
"Aye Captain." Rex nods.
"Is this Black Cove?" Proteus asks.
I nod. Strange things happen here. I remember hearing tales of when the fog comes in. Something happens to sailors and ships. Something horrible. I've been on this road a couple of times. I've heard the screams. There's always this smell like rotting flesh. I think there are monsters here.
"I've heard the stories." Marina says.
"I believe every word of it." I say.
"Stories are just warnings that are bound by truth." Proteus says.
"I have my doubts." Kale says.
"Keep your eyes out Rex." I say.
Rex nods. I notice the fog is setting in. There were high sea stacks being covered as if snow had. My eyes narrow. I know when the fog sets in creatures awake. I've never seen them before. I was fairly lucky. But I don't know how lucky I'll be today.
"It's too quiet." Marina whispers.
"I know." I whisper back.
Then there were screeches. They sound bird-like. Yet, more bloody and more eerie. Rex grabs a rope nervously. Something's watching us. More than one, I reckon. Something drops from the sky. Proteus jumps back. It hits one of my men. Ouch. It looks like a body. Claw marks were engraved in it. I hear loud screeches. He yelps and grabs Kale.
"Proteus, something's coming." I say.
