Chapter 10

Adrian sits silently across from Alex at the four person table. "So Alex, who's your friend here." Alex starts but Adrian wants to talk. "Adrian Young, sir. I'm in most of Alex's classes."
"Do you get t in fights alot son? You have bruises all over your face."
"No sir I do box as a hobby though." Alex's father seems to debate it then seems to be satisfied. "Well we are glad you could join us for dinner Adrian." Adrian goes back to eating quietly since he isn't very good at talking. "So Adrian do you believe that you can date my daughter?"
"Dad he's-"
"No I need to know if he believes he can date you."
"No I do not sir because being able to date some one comes from them and their parents." Alex's dad smiles and points at him with a fork. "I like him he has the right idea about dating."
"Speaking of dating, Dad, may I date Adrian?" Alex's father looks at him then at Alex. "I'll think about it. Now dinner is over your friend should go home."
"Dad that's not fair he-"
"No, your dad is right,Alex. I should go home and get sleep for school tomorrow." Adrian stands up and walks out of the kitchen and into the living room and out the door. He walks across the street and down to his house. Adrian walks in the door at seven. His father is sitting on the couch in the living room. "Where have you been?" His father stands up and walks towards him. "I was just walking around for a while." Out of no where his father punches him in the face. Adrian stumbled as he falls to the floor. "Do not lie to me! I watched you walk home from that girls house! Do I need to teach you another lesson?"
"No" Adrian stands up only to be shoved to the floor again. Artisan trys to call for help when a hand clamps his mouth shut. "Don't even think about getting out of this." Adrians eyes blur from pain. It feels like a thousand knives stabbing his back. Then his dad stands up and kicks him in the side. Adrian turns over onto his side as another kick hits him. Adrian sits up and his dad grabs his collar and starts punching him in the face. Adrian is getting over the shock as his dad grabs him by the hair. "I'll teach you to stay where I tell you." His dad drags him up the stairs and towards his father's room. His dad opens the single closet door and shoves him in. Adrian sinks to the floor and looks through the crack under the door. Adrian doesn't know he has fallen asleep until he wakes up to his father in his face. "Good morning!" His dad slams his head into the wall and holds it there. Adrian can't think as his dad holds a knife to his throat. "You are going to go to school then come right to the fighting club. The once we get home I am going to put you in here every night until I can trust you. If you do anything I don't like I will beat it out of you." His father releases him then throws him clothes and his school bag. Adrian gets dressed and immediately goes to the bus stop. Alex smiles and walks over to him, she holds his hand then kisses his cheek. Then she hugs him and he flinches due to the bruises his father gave him. She steps back cautiously then looks up at him. "What happened last night? What did he do to you?"
" Don't... I can't talk he is watching me."
"Then don't talk just be my boyfriend."
Adrian looks down at her then nods and suddenly be is kissing Alex. He looks at his front window and see's his father staring him down.
