When Adrian wakes up he has a splitting headache. Alex is sleeping peacefully beside him. He smiles and brushes the hair out of her face. "She looks very beautiful when she sleeps." Adrian quickly takes his knife out and turns around. His mother is faster than him, she has him down on the floor before he had finished turning. She's kneeling over him with his knife to his throat. "You taught dad how to fight didn't you."
"No. I taught you when you were little. Then your father told me he was going to put you in the ring when you got older. I didn't want that for you. I had quit the ring I was done. I had you and your father. When he set the fire that night my beautiful world shattered."
"Did you go back to fighting in the ring?"
"Yes I am back in the ring. However I have made a deal so that way we never fight each other."
"Will you teach me how to fight again?"
"I will as long as you don't go back to fighting in the ring." He looks over at Alex who is oblivious to the whole world. After a few moments his mother releases him. "If I teach you once again you have to promise to protect everyone you love. To not use it to gain money."
"I promise." His mother gets off of him and sits on the edge of the bed.
"She's beautiful. You fell in love with a very nice young lady."
"I didn't fall in love. She fell in love with me." After that Adrian and his mother trained for hours. Those hours turned to days and days turned into weeks. Weeks into months. It has been 6 months since they have reunited. Alex has been there since the beginning learning more about adrian than she could have imagined.
