Chapter 16

Adrian remembers Alex being with him and him explaining why he didn't fight her dad. Then blackness swallows his world. Adrian sits alone in the darkness like he has done so many times in the past. All of a sudden a door opens in front of him. His father is standing in the door way holding Alex by the arm. He runs and runs but he can't get closer to the door. As he finay gets close enough to the door to grab Alex his father pulls out a gun and shoots Alex. She falls to the floor beside him and Adrian can't move, cant breathe, he can't even think. Then his father points the gun at him and pulls the trigger. Adrian shots up in a bed he doesn't remember going to sleep in. He tries to breathe but something is in his throat. He began to choke as nurses hurry into the room. "Relax!" He relaxes and the nurses pull a tube out of his mouth. Then they put one of those nose things on him. When they leave he is relieved a little. Someone grabs his hand he turns to look at them and see's Alex standing there smiling. "I thought you weren't going to wake up." He can't remember anything besides his dream. "How long have I been out." Her smile fades as she became to answer. "You've been out for four days now." Her answer shocks him to the core. He squeezes her hand and smiles. "Is your dad okay?" He asks already knowing the answer. "He is going to jail for assault." Tears flood her eyes and fall down her cheeks. "I can't believe he would do something like that." Adrian wants to comfort her but he can't move very well with all his injuries.. "When I get out of here I am going to stay with you no matter what I promise." She smiles then sits next to him on the bed. "We are the weirdest couple in the world." Alex says while playing with adrians fingers. Adrian smiles and starts moving his fingers. "Yes we are, but that's what makes us special in a unique way." Alex looks at him then at his arm in a cast. "Can I sign your cast?" Adrian laughs then nods. "Yes you can sign my cast, heck are can draw all over it." Adrian waits while Alex goes and gets a marker. He relaxes when Alex comes back into the room. "Well it took me talking to three nurses but I got one." She smiled and sits back down next to him on the bed this time on the other side so she can draw on his cast. Adrian watches as she draws a beautiful picture all over it. A nurse comes in with a needle. "Good morning Adrian glad to see you are awake. Now that we are switching your medication since you are longer in the coma. Now this medication has so.e weird side affects so let me know if any thing weird happens okay." She stick's the needle into his arm and presses down on the plunger Adrian flinches from the pinch of the needle but holds completely completely still the rest of the time. She leaves the room and Adrian goes back to watching Alex draw on his cast. After about a hour or two Alex leaves to get food. Adrian sits and looks out the window. He turns to see if Alex is back and he goes rigid, his whole body freezes. His mother is standing by the bed or what was left of his mother after the fire. Alex walks in and straight past his mother. She looks at him with worry. "Adrian are you okay?" He looks away from his mother and towards Alex. "Yeah I am fine." Alex's phone became to ring and Alex frowns. Adrian smiles and laughs at her upset face. "It's okay I'm fine go ahead and answer it." She answer the phone. "Hello? Yeah this is Alex... Yeah sure." Alex hangs up and Adrian sees her face. "The police wanto to talk to me about my dad. I'll be back a little later." She says as she turns towards the door and leaves. Adrian turns towards the window on the other side of the room and see's his father and the bloody whip. He rips out all the wires and the nose thing and bolts out the door.
