Chapter 21

Alex watches as they turn out the lights and turn calming music on. "I can't believe he's only had about a hours sleep in two days."
"His night terrors are causing the lack of sleep. When he comes out of the dream he doesn't want to go back in so he stays awake." Alex watches as Adrian falls asleep. "Okay everything looks normal so far." After a few minutes the machines start to go off and Adrian begins to thrash and scream." Doctors run into the room and try to calm him down. Alex hurrys into the room and grabs his hand and sets it against her cheek. He wakes up completely covered in sweat and he looks at her. She grabs his hand and holds it. The doctors calm down and adrians doctor comes in. "You night terrors arent like anything I have ever seen. We need to get you on some medication so you can sleep." The doctor walks out of the room and so do the others. Nurses come in and wheel his bed back to his room. Alex pulls up a chair and sits by Adrian. "What are you doing?"
"I am going to sit by you what does it look like?"
"Come sit with me. Please." Alex gets up and sits down on the bed next to him. "Are you okay?"
"Yeah I am just worried."
"About what?"
"You! You were thrashing and screaming in there! All I could think about is how you must of felt knowing I helped do that to you."
"You didn't do it. Your mom did it. I don't blame her either you guys are just trying to do what's right for me." Adrian starts laughing then coughing. "Whats up with you?"
"I just realized how much my life sucks." He stops laughing then groans and goes still. "I have no family to live with, no home to go to."
"You would stay at my place."
"No. Your dad does not need me to stress him out."
"I could ask the police on your case to look up your family. See if there's anyone you can stay with till your eighteen." He smiles at her and Alex's cheeks heat up. "Thanks Alex you are the best girlfriend a guy like me could ask for." Alex smiles back then gets off the bed. "Okay I shall go find some of your family." She walks out of his room and down the hallway. She rides the elevator down to the first floor and heads out of the hospital and towards the police station. Once she gets there she asks for the officer she talked to about her dad. "Hello sir."
"Hey Alex. How's Adrian doing?"
"Well sir that's what I came to talk about. He has no knowledge of where is father is. So he has no where to go. I was hoping you could look up his family and see if he has any family in the area."
"Sure here I can do that right now." The officer starts typing on his computer. "What's Adrian's last name?"
"Young. Sorry I should have said that first thing."
"Here we go! He has one family member right here in the city."
"Really? Who?"
"His mother lives in a apartment complex on mandabal street."
"Im sorry did you say his mother?"
"Yes. It says here she had a accident involving a fire with Adrian. Her husband disappeared so the hospital never got tell him she was alive. She has been living in the city ever since."
"Where does she live again?"
"An apartment complex. Sunset hills apartment number 410 on mandabal street."
"Thank you. Um may I have her number that way I can let her know that we are on our way when we head that way?"
"Yes here." The officer writes the number down on a post-it note and hands it to her. "Thank you"
"Your welcome." Alex gets up and leaves the building. She gets back to the hospital in no time. When she gets back to his room he is dozing in and out of sleep. "Hey."
"Hey how did it go?"
"Good you have a relative that lives over on mandabal."
"Who is it?"
"The officer wouldn't tell me." Alex hates lieing but she wants him to be happy to see his mom.
"Guess what"
"What?"
"The doctors got my medication for the night terrors. They want to keep me under observation for a few more nights then I am in the clear."
"What about your bullet wounds?"
"Almost healed the doctors say its a miracle I am healing this fast. I just think it's because I have your support."
Alex smiles but feels guilty inside he's so honest to her and yet she lies to him. The days in the hospital pass like seconds almost as if the universe wants Adrian to leave the hospital. His doctor comes in on the fourth day. "Well you are almost fully recovered and your medication is working. You can check out if you would like."
"Does that mean no more security?"
"No more security." The doctor comes over and takes the restraints off. "I will grab you a wheel chair to walk you out. Adrian smiles then sits up and gets off the bed. He grabs Alex's hand and runs out the door. They get out of the hospital in no time and Adrian stops at the edge of the parking lot to take a breath." Okay let's go get my stuff and head to my family's place." Alex nods and they walk down to their neighborhood and down to his house. They got in and walk straight upstairs to his room. Adrian grabs a bag from under his bed and sets if in his bed. Alex opens his closet and see's two shirts,two pairs if pants, a hoodie, and a pair of chucks. "Okay we are totally going shopping before we head over there." She grabs it all and sticks it in the bag on the bed. "Do have any pajamas?"
"I did. Then they got ruined."
"You had a pair of pajamas?"
"Yep." Alex grabs the bag and starts to walk out. Adrian grabs her hand and turns her around. He kisses her and she kisses him back. "Let's go shopping." He says as they leave the house that Adrian will never go back to.
