I looked up at my Grandmom.

“Hi, Mia,” she greeted warmly.

“Hi… how are you?” I asked softly.

“I’m fine, thank you for asking,” she replied.

🥺 I felt a lump in my throat.

Grandmom continued, her tone formal yet gentle. “If you’re free, I want you to collect a letter from the house.”

“What?” I blinked.

“My mom… your great-grandmother… left a letter for you. She asked me to give it to you. Please, take it from my place.”

“That’s all?” I asked, confused.

“Yes,” she nodded.

“Okay… thank you for letting me know,” I murmured.

I turned to leave. Rebecca was calling my name, but right now… I didn’t want to be here. I couldn’t.

I felt suffocated. The memories of my sister’s hatred, the despair after great-grandmother’s passing… it all came rushing back. I didn’t know where I was going—I just needed to get out.

And just as I was about to stumble, someone caught me.

“Mia, what’s happening?” Daniel’s voice was full of concern.

“I… can’t… breathe,” I gasped. My attempts to hold it together crumbled as memories crashed into me.

“Look at me, Mia. Breathe. Just look at me, okay?” he urged, steadying me. I tried to focus on him, but everything was blurry. I could hear him screaming, but his words felt distant… and then, darkness swallowed me.

I awoke in a void of silence and shadows. Daniel’s voice pierced the darkness.

“You can’t leave me. I just have you. I can’t lose you. Please, baby…”

Then, a familiar warm presence appeared.

“GGM,” I whispered.

“She is worried about you,” Grandmom said gently.

“Who?”

“Your mate,” she replied.

“Mate?” I frowned. “What’s that? Who is my mate?”

“Your mate is your soulmate,” she said softly. “Your heart already knows. Just accept him—he has been waiting for you. Go.”

“But he’s Stella’s fiancé,” I murmured.

“Is he?” GGM asked knowingly.

“What do you mean?” I asked.

“Ask him,” she said with a gentle smile.

“No… I want to talk to you,” I insisted.

“I’m always here for you,” she reassured me.

“She hates me… I lost her,” I whispered, voice breaking.

“She doesn’t. She’s strong like you are, but she needs you. Only you two understand each other’s pain,” GGM said firmly.

“She doesn’t pick up my calls,” I complained.

“She is stubborn, yes—but promise me you’ll never give up on your baby sister. She needs you now more than anything.”

“I promise. Always… and forever,” I whispered, tears welling up.

“Now go. He is waiting for you. He’s worried,” GGM urged.

I heard a voice.

“When will she wake up?” Daniel’s panicked tone echoed.
