Flashback

Three months before Sam starting asking Hayden out.

Hayden was sitting in the Women's Locker Room. She took a bag of mini soft chocolate cookies out of her bag and started eating them.

"Are those from your not so secret admirer?" Britt asked.

"Yeah." "He gave them to me when I got in the car."

"His crush on you is adorable."

"I know."

"Are you gonna go out with him if he asks you?"

"I'm tempted, but no."

"Why?"

"I just want to stay single."

End Of Flashback

It had been two months since Hayden had broken up with Sam. He was still begging and pleading for her to talk to him but she refused. She'd almost cracked a couple times and agreed to talk. Every time she did she remind herself that while she still loved Sam, she didn't trust him anymore. It also didn't help that every time she saw Alexandria all she could picture was her and Sam together.

Hayden decided to stop feeling sorry for herself and go out after the show. She went to a bar. Since Sam didn't drink she hadn't been to one in a long time. She was sitting at a table drinking a beer. A familiar face came over to the table.

"Hey Max, (MJF) it's been awhile."

"I know." "Can I sit down, or are you waiting for someone?"

"No, go ahead." He sat down. "Dating is the last thing on my mind right now."

"How are you doing?"

"I'm doing the best I can."

They sat talking for the next few hours.

"Remember the time we were in North Dakota on our way to that signing?" Max said.

"Yeah, we got a flat tire and it was freezing outside."

"The heater didn't work for shit."

"We had to huddle together to stay warm."

"Yeah, but that part was nice." He said smirking.

"It was."

"That night we spent together wasn't that bad, was it?"

"Well you were there, what do you think?"

"I think you enjoyed it as much as I did, which is why I was so confused when I asked you out the next morning, and you said no."

"It's like I told you back then, I just wasn't looking to date then."

"With the way it happened it seemed like you just didn't want to date me."

"Because I started dating Sam after you asked me?"

"Yeah."

"To be fair, I told him no at first." "I should've trusted my gut."

Max walked Hayden back to her room. They were standing in the hall.

"Tonight's the first time in a long time I actually had fun."

"Good, I'm glad." "If you need anything you can call me."

"Thanks." She kissed him on the cheek. "Goodnight."

"Goodnight." Hayden went into her room.
