Toxic Affair

Chapter 25

"Hayden has something to share that will make Alexandria's case crumble." Mr. Cooper said. "She arranged a breakfast meeting with Hayden yesterday, and unbeknownst to her Hayden recorded the conversation." Hayden's phone was on the desk. Mr. Cooper pressed play.

Flashback

"Thank you  coming." Alexandria said.

"You're lucky I came at all."

"I  don't know what Sam told you but the affair was all his idea."

"Is that all you wanted to see me for?" "To talk about your affair with my ex-fiancée?"

"No." "I'm here to help you get what you want."

"What's that?"

"Revenge on Sam." "He broke both of our hearts." "I need more evidence to win my case against him." "If you say he raped you, we'll  have a better chance."

"We?"

"In my lawsuits against Sam and Tony, it totals up to seven million dollars." "I'll split it with you fifty-fifty."

"Just to be clear, he never raped you?"

"Of course not, I made up the whole thing." "It's so easy these days." "Since the Me Too movement all you need to do is accuse someone of rape." "Public opinion takes care of the rest." "So, are you in?"

"Definitely."

"I'll need a few days to come up with a story though."

"No problem." "Sam won't know what hit him."

End Of Flashback

"We got her." Mr. Cooper said.

"I want to sue her for defamation of character." Sam said.

"I can help you with that."

Hayden and Sam were on the elevator to leave.

"Thank you so much Hayden." Sam said.

"I couldn't let her get away with it." "It wasn't right." "I can't believe she was stupid enough to actually think I would help her." "No matter what happened with us, I would never do that to you."

"A lot's been going on, but I think I saw that you got engaged."

"I did."

"Congratulations."

"Thank you."

"I hope he loves you the way I should have." The elevator dinged. Hayden had parked in the parking deck while Sam had parked on the street a floor below. "Be happy."

"I will." She got off the elevator. "I know you'll find someone someday." 

Sam got off the elevator and saw the woman behind the desk. He went up to it.

"Hi, I'm Sam." He said. "What's your name?"

"Lucy."

"When I come back to Florida for work next week, would you like to have dinner with me?"

"Sure."

"Great."
