Hayden was due next week. Max had two more days of work before his paternity leave started. It was around nine o'clock at night. Hayden was home resting in bed. She was about to get up to get a snack when she heard a pop then felt wetness. Her water had broken.

"No, not yet." She said out loud. "Your daddy isn't here." Hayden got her phone and called Max.

"Hello?" He said.

"Max the baby is coming."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes my water just broke."

"Don't drive yourself to the hospital." "Call 911."

"Ok."

"I'll be there as quick as I can." "It'll take me at least four hours."

"I know."

"I don't  want you to miss the birth."

"I don't want to miss it either but if you feel he needs to come out, just push him out." "The most important thing is the health of you two." "I love you."

"I love you too."

Hayden had been in labor for four and a half hours. Max was stuck in traffic due to an accident.

"Come on." He said.

An hour later Max finally got there. He was about fifteen minutes late for the birth. He came into the room. Hayden was holding Max Jr.

"I'm so sorry Hayden." Max said. "There was an accident and I caught in traffic for an hour." "Are you two alright?"

"We're fine." "Wanna meet your son?" She handed him to him. The baby opened his eyes. He had Max's eyes and a patch of brown hair.

"He's so beautiful." He said with tears in his eyes.

"I know he is."

"Hi little Max." "I love you." He looked at Hayden. "I love you."

"I love you too." They kissed.

A month later Lucy and Sam were celebrating their one year anniversary in California. It was night time they were walking hand in hand on the beach. About ten feet ahead Lucy could see candles in the distance in the shape of a heart. She looked at Sam and smiled.

"What did you do?" She asked.

"Go see."

Lucy went ahead. As she got close enough to the candles, she saw written inside the heart, in the sand were the words.

Lucy will you marry me?

Lucy's jaw dropped. When she turned face Sam he was down on one knee holding out a ring box.

"I love you Lucy." "I want to be with you forever." "Will you marry me?"

"Yes." She said tearfully. He put the ring on her finger and stood up. They hugged and kissed.

I  hope some of you aren't pissed about the ending. I know I usually bring the estranged couple back together but I wanted to try something different this time.
