chapter 1: escape

My heart is racing and my breathing is heavy. Am i really going to do this? Where would i go? What if Lye and Sadie won't want me once i escape? What if they tell me to just go back home? What if they block me? Do i even know how to survive once i've gotten away? What if i get caught? Questions and questions run through my mind as i get ready to sneak down the stairs, half of them involving the two people i love most in the world and the other half worrying about my survival.

I take a deep breath and grab my things which is packed in a single suitcase and my backpack. When i was younger i would be questioning why i didn't have my brother with me, but a year ago i found out that he had chosen my abusive mother over me. However if that was his choice i wouldn't force him to change it.

When i found out about his decision my life went from revolving around him to revolving around Sadie and Lye. They were the most handsome and gorgeous people to exist, at least in my opinion. They were my everything and i was grateful to have them in my life. However i continuously questioned why they would pick me over anyone else. If you asked me i would say they could pick anyone in the world they wanted. So why would they pick one of the most broken, complicated people they could find?

I sneak down the stairs, trying to be as silent as possible, luckily I manage to make it out of the door without waking anyone. That's when I run for it, I don't exactly know where i'm going however i'm hoping to make it to a far enough train or bus station. It feels like I've been running for hours, when in reality it was only 1. Eventually I make it to a train station and decide i'll stay there for the night until i figure out what to do.

I send Lye and Sadie a message saying how much i love and appreciate them, not mentioning a thing about running away yet as i'm still trying to process everything myself. I decide to hide in a corner that hopefully i won't be found in, surprisingly as soon as i close my eyes i fall asleep, the worries of running away must have made me exhausted without realising it.

When i open my eyes i have no idea what time it is, but i hear crowds of people so i know i have to move before i get found. I sigh knowing that i'm gonna have to tell lye and Sadie what happened. Eventually after possibly half an hour of overthinking i send them a message explaining, my leg continuing to bounce up and down as i wait for their response.

'where are you?' is the single message Lye sends to me. It surprises me that he didn't block or break up with me. Instead he seems more concerned about my safety, however i can't assume anything for definite, I've made that mistake too many times before with other people.

I decide there's nothing else i can do but tell him the truth, so i tell him about how i'm practically hiding in the train station. He tells me to get the next train to his city and he'll sort it from there. I simply do what he says, not knowing what it'll resolute in but not having any other plan i can follow. The train arrives 15 minutes after i've brought the ticket, i decide to go to the most empty carriage due to my anxiety and i simply wait.

Once the train arrives i see 5 black range rovers parked outside the train station, which makes me instantly think of the mafia, making me laugh softly to myself as i know it'd be impossible for the mafia to just show up, as that only happens in stories and movies but it'd be kinda cool if they did. That's when someone in a black suit and shades comes over to me. "excuse me miss, but are you Allia?" he asks, surprising and slightly scaring me that he knows my name.

"y yes, why?" I ask, wondering how the hell i'm supposed to protect myself if needed.

"Ah perfect, sir Vendetta has asked me to take you to him immediately, if you'd like to come with me please" he says as he tries to guide me towards somewhere.

"sir who now?" I ask, it being my instant response as i know no one called Vendetta.

"Lye miss" the male says under his breath, sounding slightly impatient.

"ohh, oh- ok then" I say. I guess thats his last name then? Allia vendetta, sounds kinda nice. I smile at my thought before brushing it away, i don't even know how Lye even thinks of this whole situation so i can't be imagining how it would sound if i had his last name.

The guy takes me over to the five cars parked and instantly my breath hitches, i knew Lye was powerful but this makes me question just how powerful? And how would that affect me, if it did? But again i brush my thought away.

Another guy opens the middle car's passenger door for me, indicating for me to get in, i do so but cautiously. I tap my fingers against my thigh nervously as we start to move and my thoughts wonder to all directions, but the main one still being how they would react.

Finally we arrive at a house and the door opens for me as i stare at the house in shock....
