chapter 13: my sweet babies

As I looked at them, a smile appeared on my lips. They were mine. And what was mine I would keep safe and cherish forever. They were precious to me and I vowed to keep them protected.

It was a fair early morning, the sun was rising and we were in our room watching a childhood favourite programme. Scooby doo.

Lye and Sadie were quiet whilst watching and I couldn't help but have my caregiver instincts appear. After everything that had happened recently, especially with my suicide attempt, a day like this was much needed.

I was wearing a black lace top and some matching pyjama shorts. Whilst Lye was wearing a scooby doo onesie, fitting perfectly into the theme of the morning, and Sadie was wearing an adorable stitch bodysuit.

Lye was laying on my chest whilst Sadie was laying on my lap and as i played with their hair i knew this was one of the biggest reasons i didn't go through with my plans to end it. They were my reason for living, they were my happiness, they were my everything. And they always would be.

"mama i wan somethin to do" Sadie complained, as she fidgeted a little on my lap, clearly bored and underwhelmed. 

"you do, do you princess?" I asked in a soft tone, trying to think of something we could do. 

"mhms" she nodded, still fidgeting.

"me toos mama" Lye complained.

"hm, i might have an idea little ones. what do you both think about going to build-a-bear?" i asked and both of them lit up instantly, their eyes showing their excitement.

"really?!" Sadie squealed. I knew they loved their stuffie's and i loved mine almost as much as I loved them, so what was the harm in going out and getting us a couple. It would have us be in the fresh air and not be cooped up in the house and we would be doing something we liked instead of being bored the whole day. It was a win win. 

"really beautiful" i smiled "go get ready and we can leave as soon as you are." 

They both instantly shot up as if the bed was on fire and went to get ready for the day. For a moment i stood and watched them, you could see their eager expressions and it made me feel like the luckiest person alive. 

"mama! you help me pick outfit?" Sadie pulled me out of my trance, the fact that she wanted me to pick something for her made me feel even happier, if that was even possible. If she wanted me to pick something for her she clearly trusted me with my decision and that was definitely a bigger step than ever.

"of course darling girl" I answered and went over to her where she was stood by her side of the closet. "how about you both go have a shower and do your teeth and mama can pick out your outfits, how does that sound my little doves?" I suggested and they both nodded in response going to the bathroom to get ready whilst i choose their outfits.

I choose a pair of black dungarees, a purple sweater, white frilly socks, black converse and a purple necklace for Sadie. Placing a purple pacifier in one of her pockets and placing a similar one in my backpack as an emergency. I then choose a green t-shirt, black shorts, a beige hoodie, with a cute bear on it, and black trainers for Lye. Doing the same I did for Sadie but with his blue pacifier's instead.

Whilst i wait for them both i grab a few more things for my backpack, a few colouring books, a few snacks, my money, sippy cups for the both of them and a couple of other items, before choosing myself an outfit which is just a black dress and grey flannel with black converse trainers.

As soon as they come out of the bathroom I show them their outfits which they seem happy about, and i go to have a shower and do my skincare myself.

Eventually, after a few hours, we arrive at the shopping mall and i take them both to build-a-bear, making sure to keep an eye on them both so i know their safe.
