Chapter 9
Calldyr
It was afternoon when they reach Calldyr. Zara looked down at the lands she grew up in. People looked up as the dragons flew over as they headed for the palace. Her back was hurting from the long flight. The palace was straight ahead.
"It's huge." Bodhi said. Zara chuckled.
"Its bigger inside. You could get easily lost." Zara said.
"I wouldn't be surprised." Garrick said as the dragons circle the castle. Guards pointed. "Should we be worried?"
"No. We have dragons come and go all the time. Plus they know we're coming." Zara said. Adish dives towards the courtyard and guards and people quickly scatter. Two figures come to the door as Adish lands right in the middle of the courtyard.
'Show off.' Zara grumbled. Adish huffs.
'Princelings to your left.' Adish said. Zara looked up to see Halden and Cam heading her way as Chradh and Cuir land on either side of Adish.
"Zara's back." Voices called. Zara slid down Adish leg as Bodhi and Garrick jump off their dragons.
"Zara." Haldlen called as the three approach. Zara threw her arms around her brothers and hugged them. "You don't know how worried I been and now you got a dragon." Cam was eying Bodhi and Garrick. "Did you really need guards?"
"We're not guards." Garrick said.
"Marked ones, Zara. Really?" Cam said. Bodhi glared at Cam.
"Be nice Cam or I'll beat your ass. Come on. I don't want to explain twice and not out here. Where's father?" Zara said.
"In a meeting, but we were suppose to bring you to him when you arrived." Halden said. Halden led the way in.
"What's his issue?" Bodhi asked.
"Him and Alic were close. I think he more hates Riorson." Zara said. Then entered the castle. It hadn't changed much since she was a kid. She smiled at the memory of running down the halls with her brothers having servents scold them. Garrick and Bodhi looked a bit impressed.
"I'll show you around later. I promise." Guards stand at the doors to the throne room and they open them. Halden steps in with Cam. Bodhi and Garrick share looks as Zara stepped through the door and they quickly follow.King Tauri sat on the throne with his wife next to him, listening to one the councilmen speak. Zara never liked the meetings that she got dragged to. Her love was for fighting and reading. Halden approaches and King Tauri's eyes land on Zara and he held up his hand as they come to a stop in front of the throne. King Tauri's eyes lit up at the sight of his only daugther. Garrick and Bodhi noticed the loathing coming from the Queen at her.
"Zara." King Tauri stood up and came down the steps and hugged his daughter. "It's wonderful to see you. You survived the Rider Quadrant so far."
"Yes, father. I'm bonded to an orange clubtail." Zara said, hugging her father back.
"Aren't the oranges... Temermental or is it unpredictable." The Queen asked with distain in her voice. A growl echos through Zara's head.
'Tempermental. I'll show her...' Adish growled.
'Go eat some sheep or torment Chradh. Whatever your good at.' Zara grumbled.
"They are, but my dragon is a bit calmer." Zara said.
'I heard that.' Adish said. Zara really hated her dragon at times.
"General Melgren said he had one previous rider before you." King Tauri said. Zara raised an eyebrow on that. Adish was silent on that. Bodhi and Garrick share looks as well. "You didn't have to bring other riders." King Tauri eyed Garrick and Bodhi and they bowed respectfully. "What's your names again? You two look familiar."
