Confrontation

They arrived in Calldyr and the guards scatter as the dragons landed in the courtyard of the palace. Zara jumped off and guards looked surprise.

"Princess. We weren't..." The Captain started, avoiding Adish, who was glaring at everyone as Garrick and Bodhi came behind Zara.

"Where are they?" Zara demanded. The Captain looked surprised.

"They are in the Council Chambers." The Captain said. Zara headed for the steps without another word. Garrick and Bodhi follow. Zara walked with a purpose and guards moved out of her way. Some sent worried looks when they saw the bruises on her neck. Zara led the way to the council room. Guards moved out of the way. They eyed Garrick and Bodhi.

"Their with me." Zara said.

"The King is in the middle of a meeting." The guard said. Zara gave a look and the guard shut up. Zara pushed the doors open and stepped in. Heads turn. Halden's eyes widen and Cam was at his feet. Their eyes were on Zara's neck.

"Leave us." Zara hissed at the council members. The Council members quickly move out and Garrick and Bodhi move out of their way as Zara's eyes land on her father and mother.

"Zara. Your neck." Cam said, running over.

"What happened? Why are you here?" Halden said.

"I got permission." Zara said. Her eyes turn on her father. "Amber Mavis is dead." Shock ran over her father's face. Her mother kept a straight face.

"How?" The King asked.

"She helped unbonded get in by Cadet Sorrengail and Zara's room while they were asleep against the Codex." Garrick said, moving towards Zara's side. Zara's eyes were on her mother as Bodhi stood on her other side.

"What?" Halden said. Cam looked worried. Anika was sitting next to Halden and she looked worried.

"She wanted to get rid of the weakest rider with Sorrengail." Zara said.

"What does it have to do with you?" Cam asked.

"Why don't we ask our mother. Actually your mother. Since my birth mother is dead." Zara said. The King's eyes flick to Garrick and Bodhi. "They already know, father. I told them after she slapped me and Adish went wild." Zara's eyes land on her mother. "You were always close to her mother. Amber told me that she got a letter to find a way to kill the bastard Princess. Your the only one that calls me that." Anger flashed in her mothers eyes.

"Your probably lying. Your probably one of the weakest cadets." The Queen said.

"She is one of the top of her class and one of the top 5 to the top of the Gauntlet. And her signet is unique." Bodhi nearly snapped. The Queen glared at Bodhi. Zara put a hand on Bodhi's arm. "She has not lost a challenge since joining. She has potential to be a leader."

"Signet? I didn't get a report you had one." The King said.

"It just came when I got attacked last night. The General gave me permission to come. I have fire and ice signet." Zara said. The Kings eyes widen. Zara's eyes land on her mother. "I tried everything to prove I'm a worthy daughter, but you hated me just for the crimes of what my father did." The Queen stepped towards her.

"You ungrateful child. I should..." Garrick and Bodhi got in front of Zara and the Queen stopped as a roar fills the air. The balcony doors were open and Zara saw not just Adish but Chradh and Cuir land on the railing. Adish lowered his head.

'Don't.' Zara told Adish. Adish growled.

"Your no daughter of mine. I should of killed you when you were born." The Queen said.

"Enough. I told you to let her live and join the Rider Quadrant like she wanted. I am tired of you abusing her and now you hired someone to kill her. Your overstepping." The King said. The Queen moved back.

"And you don't think these two." The Queen looked at Garrick and Bodhi, who stood their ground. "Won't kill you. Or they will use you and dump you. Even if all three dragons of yours are mates." Garrick and Bodhi stood their ground.

"If any of the Marked Ones wanted me dead, I be dead already. And they won't. They are both my boyfriends." Zara said, holding her head high. The Queen wrentched back. "Father. We are allowed to stay till Sunday. Is that alright?"

"Yes." The King said. Garrick and Bodhdi turn, grabbing Zara as she turned and they quickly left. The dragons left soon after. Garrick and Bodhi wrap their arms around Zara as they saw her body shaking. They press kisses to her head.

"Thank you." Zara whispered.

"Zara." The three turn to see Anika and Halden heading her way. Zara pulled away and hugged her brother and best friend.

"I can't believe mother did that." Halden said.

"It doesn't surprise me especially after Alic tried to kill me." Zara said.

"Well. We're glad your here. Halden and I have some news." Anika said. Zara looked at them.

"I proposed to Anika." Halden said. Zara squealed and nearly tackled Anika.

"Congratulations." Garrick said.

"Yeah. Same." Bodhi said.

"Father was trying to figure out how to send word to you. We're waiting till a few days before the next Conscription Day." Halden said. Garrick frowned.

"I graduate after this year and we won't know our orders with our dragons till Graduation. And depending how long you need Zara. We'll have to come with." Garrick said.

"All three of you will be invited. Father is talking to Melgren about it. That's what father suggests so you aren't taken to long from school since you'll be preparing." Halden said. Zara shares looks with Bodhi and Garrick. "We want you here for it, Zara."

"I know. And I want to." Zara said. Anika smiled.

"Will you be my maid of honor?" Anika said.

"Yes!" Zara hugged her friend. Anika and Zara link arms and disappear down the hall, talking and making plans. Halden, Garrick, and Bodhi follow behind. Zara was excited for her brother and best friend. One bad thing turns into exciting news for her.
