2nd POV

Whipping around you saw Kenma still standing touching the water in the pool of the present, relief flooded your system to know that he was still standing. But if what you saw was true that meant if you continued on this path there was a chance that Kenma was going to die on this adventure.

You didn't know how to feel anymore, about the fact that Kenma might die or that if everyone survived that you would have a future together.

"Ey. HEY. (Insert Name), are you ok." Kenma shouted at you.

"Ya, why wouldn't I be?" You responded, refusing to look into his eyes.

"Well it's just that I've been calling you for the past minute and you just stared into space." Kenma replied.

"Sorry I was just trying to get my bearings, almost felt like walking on a ship for the first time." You apologised, moving past him and towards the mouth of the cave.

"I saw where they were and if we continue north out of this pass we should be able to meet them by tomorrow." Kenma spoke out as he followed you out of the cave.

You nodded in acknowledgement entering back out into the world, pulling out a compass, you began to wander away from the stream and towards the rocky hills beyond them. As the day went on you and Kenma scaled the rocks and passed over the grassy valleys in between them, the walk was quiet, much quieter than it usually was between you and Kenma, though you could blame that on your constant rotation of thoughts.

Finally you decided to stop, you needed this. Not only was your body absolutely ready to give out from under you, especially after that fall and all the walking you have done, but the mental strain your mind has been in. You keep glancing over at Kenma just to make sure he's still there, just to make sure what you saw didn't happen earlier than you thought it would. But just as always he is right by your side, alive and well trekking along looking even worse for wear than you do.

Stopping, you began to build up a fire with Kenma going off to search for food assuring you that he would recognise edible plants from the poisonous ones, you made a note to yourself to check it all over when he came back. Once the fire roared to life you finally settled down and started unraveling your thoughts and emotions that had taken place over the course of this quest, why had you gotten so jealous when that woman flirted with Kenma, why did seeing your family together make your heart ache, and why did the sight of his dying body absolutely crush your soul into the ground. Just as you were coming to more concrete answers to your thoughts Kenma returned with, shockingly, all edible plants and you began to eat.

"I'll take first watch." You volunteered, leaving no room to argue as you climbed up a small rock ledge near your campsite for a better vantage point.

"Good night (Insert Name)." Kenma yelled across at you before lying facing the fire all tucked into his robes.

You started out into the night for what felt like hours, and most likely was hours, before you really registered the sounds of the soft breathing coming from your wizard companion. He had a soft look on his face, more relaxed than when he was awake, you could understand. If you had lived your whole life in safety to then suddenly be thrust into constant danger you would never look relaxed, hell you couldn't ever relax and this had been your life for who knows how long. But it was nice to see that he was so comfortable, that he trusted you enough to rest. That made your heart flutter.

No, no it's just nice that someone trusts you. Plus by the end of this you probably won't see him again.

The night passed on, it was calm with only a cool breeze to disrupt the stillness of the darkness. You let Kenma sleep, focusing on the rustling of the leaves and the changing positions of the moon. Slowly the moon moved across the sky before it disappeared behind the trees with the sun chasing its tail, when the light peeked into your camp it fell over Kenma casting a golden glow across his hair creating a golden glow around him as he began to awaken. He pushed his hair back and blinked his eyes as he adjusted to the morning light.

"You didn't wake me up" Kenma said as he walked over to you.

"Ya, I just thought that you could use the sleep after all that we have gone through in the last few days." You responded.

"You have gone through the same amount as me."

"I know but this is the, you know, you don't get out alot."

"What does that have to do with this?"

"I, look this whole lifestyle is a lot and you're just, kind of, you know more academic than the rest of us."

"It doesn't matter if I do this regularly or not, you went through all this with me, and you have been injured more than me. You should be taking it easy and not lecturing me on how much danger you think I can and can't take."

"You're right, I-"

"No, it's fine, let's just get going."

"Kenma please wait, we have to talk. I didn't mean it like that."

"(Insert Name) stop, I don't want to talk. Let's just get out of here and find the others."

"Kenma..."
