Arrows Mark (Kenma x Reader)

Chapter 16

Kenma POV

The man in front of the altar was menacing, he was chanting something and the red glow under his skin seemed to intensify, and with the growing light under his skin the storm grew with it. The thunder changed from its loud rumblings to the sound of beating drums, it felt as though they were being beaten from within our ears, and the lightning had begun to intensify too. The cracks that were heard along with the lightning changed so that there was also a sizzling sound as if it was striking and burning something in the air. The atmosphere seemed to tense up in apprehension and it felt like boulders had settled into the bases of our lungs as the moments passed.

Finally after what felt like years the weight around them lifted, the atmosphere lightened and it felt like something had changed. Kenma took the moment to breathe and feel some semblance of peace before he realised it was quiet, the storm had not become more quiet he was sure that the thunder still roared in his ears and the lightning still crackled around him, burning up all that came into its path. He could still hear the breathing of all his companions, then it hit him, the chanting had stopped.

His eyes traced back to the man in front of the altar and found that he was facing their group, he was terrifying, he moved with an ethereal grace towards the group his eyes gleamed red in the light and he had ivory horns that curled back and around his face giving off the illusion of a helmet. As he began to draw nearer it set the group into action as they realised that the final fight was now. They descended from their percher on the side of the bowl and began to spread across to surround the man, he only laughed as they readied themselves to fight.

"This is who is sent to deal with me, I feel as though I should be insulted." The man chuckled out as he surveyed us. "I caused this much death and all they send me is some ragtag band of adventurers and some sort of half baked mage." The man stated, staring directly at Kenma as he said that. "Honestly though I am relieved, killing you all will be quick and I can bring my lord back so that he may take his rightful place as the true lord of this land." No one responded to his statements but Kenma did see you tense up when he was insulted and it made his heart flutter, Kenma shook away those thoughts he had to focus or he could end up as one of the bodies on the altar.

Suddenly there was a crack, the loudest crack of lightning yet everyone looked up to see bright red streaks of lightning shooting towards them, Daichi quickly raised his shield, it seemed to hold some sort of enchantment as it glimmered with magic once the lightning struck. Kenma, Akaashi and Tendou all cast quick shielding spells diverting the lightning back up into the sky. Kenmas quickly turned towards you realising that you lacked some sort of protection from the attack only to see lightning strike and create a crater right where you had been, he looked for you through the rising dust and saw a dark figure about five feet from where the lightning had struck. As the dust settled Kenma recognised your face and was shocked by how fast you moved.

It all began to move quickly after that with you notching a few strangely coloured arrows into your bow and letting them sail towards the horned man as Daichi unsheathed his sword and started charging the man. The arrows hit one sparking fire on contact and the other to catch fire, creating burning wounds on the man from where they had lodged themselves into his skin. Daichi reached the man and swung his sword at him, the man seemed to have recovered from the initial shock of the fire and dodged out of the way. The man was then suddenly shrouded in shadows that put out the flames and dislodged the arrows, wrapping themselves around the wounds like bandages applying pressure, the shadows also launched out towards Daichi forming into the shape of a person.

The shadowy figure sent some of its shadows out behind it and they returned with what looked to be a bone whittled into a sword. Once the shadowy figure had the sword in its grasp it immediately lunged at Daichi forcing him into combat with it instead of the horned man in the centre. From the shadows that had now pooled around the man creatures started to take shape, they were smaller and were shaped more like animals in comparison to the one Daichi was fighting. Then the shadow creatures shot out towards (insert name), Tendou and Akaashi, the creatures were obviously a way to separate them from fighting as a group. The ones that targeted Tendou and Akaashi ran at them launching themselves and trying to knock the two magic users to the ground, Akaashi summoned some vines to help maneuver himself away from the creatures and to attack them. Tendou started to shoot out spells and blasts of magic as he strummed quickly on the strings of his instrument. The creatures that shot towards you took to the sky flying to your bow and keeping you from having a clean shot at the master of the creatures.
