Chapter 14

2nd POV

You wanted to talk to him, you wanted to explain what you meant that all your words came out wrong and that you wanted to tell him that you just wanted to protect him. You wanted to tell him that your mind wouldn't be able to shut off and that even if you tried you would just be kept up by your worries for him. You hated the way you communicated it, you should have just said that you couldn't sleep and got lost in your thoughts.

You hiked after Kenma, silent as ever, watching as he scaled the rocks and led the two of you out of the rocky terrain. Finally the path evened out and all you could see was a lake spanning all along the horizon only stopping when it reached the foot of a mountain far ahead.

"There should be a dock around here." Kenma said, though you could tell it wasn't meant to be directed to you, he just said it in general. As he began searching along the banks of the lake you trailed behind him kicking stones from the rocky beach back into the lake and watched them sink. It must be nice to fall through the water and land on the sandy ground to just sit in wait until the tides push you back up onto the beach. You wished you could be the rocks moved only by water and wind. You wished you could take back what you said and that you had woken Kenma up for his watch. You wished that Tendous voice in the back of your head was really there hanging off your shoulder so you could ask him for advice.

"HEEEEEYYYY, OVER HEREEEEEEEEEE!" His voice shouted in your mind, but it was strange as if he was getting closer as if he was right in front of you. Snapping your head up from its focus on the shore and the pebbles you squinted as you looked down the beach, ignoring Kenma as his head turned in your direction.

Just a little ways away there looked to be a small fishing settlement with only a few houses right by a big dock with little fishing boats tied to it, and on that dock was an overly energetic redhead jumping up and down and screaming your name. Tendou was right there just on that dock, and Daichi and Akaashi were behind him trying to calm him down. You couldn't help it, your face broke out into a grin and you sprinted ahead leaving Kenma to trail behind you as you tried to get to your friends as fast as you could.

"(Insert Nameeeeee), we finally see each other again." Tendou shouted out once you finally reached them on the dock Kenma a few paces behind you. Tendou shot out and grabbed you into his arms and started whining and groaning about how long you had been apart and how horrible it was to be without you.

"It's ok Tendou, we are all back together now. So let's get going, we don't have unlimited time." You said, trying to push the group to get going. You feared that staying in one spot too long would force you to reflect on your inner turmoil and you wanted to avoid that as much as you could, to shove it so deep into the depths of your emotions that you never feel it again.

"WHATTTT, (Insert Name) you just got here. We just regrouped, we need to discuss and rest, that was very stressful. What we just went through, we need to stay here for the night. At least you do, you look like you haven't slept." Tendou reasoned, you glanced over at Kenma before quickly looking back at Tendou after you noticed him looking at you. You couldn't take this you needed to get away from Kenma and his looks that you couldn't understand.

"Tendous right (Insert Name), a night of proper rest will do us some good, especially since this is one of the last ones we will get because after tonight we will be scaling the mountain." Daichi said as he nodded towards the mountain beyond the lake, Akaashi nodded behind him and began to walk in the direction you could only assume was the local inn.

"You're right, let's go." You agreed and followed after them towards the inn. You needed this sleep, but even more than that you needed to talk to someone about how you were feeling, preferably not Kenma because you knew that if you even tried to talk to him nothing would come out the way you wanted it to.
