Kaeden made it clear that he wasn't gonna reenact Historic events. They weren't his thing. Besides no one here talks about how The Chadwick Brothers... how they liberated a couple of slaves here and there. Plus, the only time Kaeden's wears any suit for that matter is for weddings and funerals. And sometimes for fancy dinners and parties. Either way he's not gonna do this.
Further more, Kaeden was looking for something. After that conversation with Bonnie, it confirmed that she wasn't fine at all. That look on her face spelled "vendetta." Even after telling her that Bonnie should blame Kaeden as well because had he killed Damon, they wouldn't have dropped the seal, Bonnie and Shelia wouldn't have done the spell. Shelia would be alive.
So imagine his surprise to hear how Bonnie didn't turn off the Gilbert Device. But... Kaeden had wondered how this devise hurts vampires so much. He's hoping that since his ancestors (The Chadwick Brothers) interacted with some of the founding members, they would at least give him some insights on it. And he did.
He found it.
Connor Chadwick's journal. Kaeden hopes there's some info on it.
As he opens it, it reads:
"The Gilbert Device, Emily told me about it. And it's... not good. Ordinarily I would not have worried if it weren't for the fact that Emily told me that it effects vampires in a way. But not the way they intended. In truth, it affects supernatural beings with heightened hearing. Vampires, Werewolves and Lycans all have them. I must convince Emily to destroy the thing before the town unleashes it."
"Sound. And this town doesn't know that werewolves and lycans exist." Then Kaeden had a terrible feeling. His mom, The Mayor, Tyler, they'll hear it too. "They'll be mistaken for vampires. Because It's a high-pitched frequency that humans can't hear. But vampires, werewolves and lycans can hear it. I gotta get Bonnie to turn it off."

Kaeden arrived after texting Bonnie to call him. He sees Tyler playing pool. "Hey, dawg."
"Hey, bro, where were you?" Tyler asked.
"Listen, there's no time. You need to go, now." Kaeden was trying to get him to leave.
"What? Why? What's going on?" Tyler was confused by Kaeden's sudden behaviour.
Before Marcus could reply, Richard Lockwood arrived.
"What are you doing here? I told you to go home." Kaeden can tell that Richard knows what's going down.
Tyler stubbornly replied. "I decided not to."
Mayor Lockwood angrily says. "If I tell you to do something, you do it!" He grabs Tyler's arm and begins to shout.
