Brady POV

callie looked at me like i'd just ripped out her heart and crushed it. her eyes looked so tired, and her face displayed a look of complete sorrow

"no" she sounded quiet, "why would you even think that?"

"because you haven't been the same since that party" i spoke calmly

"why are you still talking about that stupid fucking party" she smiled solemnly, looking at me like i was stupid.

"because i know something happened. and i know you haven't told anyone, but you can't do this alone" i tried to reach out to her, but she turned to open the door

"i don't need this shit" she scoffed, but i grabbed her arm.

"no, callie. listen to me" i raised my voice slightly, and she sat back down. i didn't want to scare her but i was sick of her thinking she has no one. like she had to do everything alone

"just tell me what happened with marcus"

she didn't say anything

"you went to the party with him, he didn't leave your side the whole night, and then you come downstairs distraught"

she still didn't say anything

"i thought you and marcus were together when i saw the way he looked at you. like you were his. but then i saw you. and i could tell you hated him"

her eyes started to tear up, as she turned her head away, hiding herself

"you've been avoiding him. you've been avoiding everyone. just please, tell me what happened"

she finally turned to look at me, tears stained her cheeks and her face red and puffy

"stay the fuck away from me"

she got out the car, slamming the door, leaving me with more questions than before

i would've thought if it was marcus, she would've told me. i could've sorted it for her. but maybe that's exactly what she didn't want.

————

to get my mind off shit, i decided to go to a party. landon had been texting me non stop all night, even showing up at my hours trying to get me to come

it was 3 hours in when i saw marcus. i was completely wasted and decided to go confront him myself.

"brady" he smiled at me as i walked towards him, answering with a clean left hook to his jaw.

everyone around us formed a circle as the fight broke out.

and not to sound cocky, but i knew marcus didn't stand a chance

it kind of went blurry. i don't remember how long i was on top of him punching up, and i don't remember landon and ronan pulling me off of him.

i remember the blood. the blood spilling across the hardwood floor. people shouting to call an ambulance and asking if he's dead.

landon putting me in his car and speeding away, the sirens going past us. but i couldn't bring myself to care

i saw callie's reaction when i asked her. marcus did something to her. something bad. i know what happened, deep down i do. i just wanted to hear her say it.

i just wanted to help her. i could help her

"go to callie's house" i said to landon, who looked at me confused.

"we're not doing that" mason spoke from the backseat, glaring at landon

"i need to speak to her. please" i pleaded with landon, who eventually complied and followed my directions.

when we got to her house, all the lights were out, which didn't seem unusual as her dad was never home. i hopped out, knocking on her door. no answer i tried for five minutes, nothing

"where the fuck is she?" i shouted to landons car.

mason got out, walking over to me and scanning the house

"she's not here?" he asked confused

i shook my head

i pulled out my phone, calling her. it only rang a few times before she answered.
