Callie POV

i woke up with the worst hangover of my life, which was made worse by the realisation that i no longer had any pills

$100 worth of pills gone in one night. maybe i shouldn't of offered them to every person i spoke to.

my dad was home today too.

i got up and got ready, showering all my sweat and the chlorine from the pool off of me before heading downstairs

"hey" i said quietly, to which dad replied with a curt nod

i poured myself some cereal, sitting down at the table

"have you been going to school?" he asked

"of course" i replied quickly.

"i had a call from the councillor" he sat down opposite me, "she said you don't have any friends"

why did he even care? he's absent for years but tries come around now i'm nearly an adult

"i guess not" i took another mouthful of my food

"are you still happy we moved here?" he sipped his tea, staring at me over the mug

"yes"

"alright then" he flicked open the newspaper, blanking my existence once again. i quickly finished and headed back upstairs.

i texted lev to ask him if he could meet me now. he just sent back an address.

i slipped on my shoes and headed there, it was near the bench i met him the last two times.

as i walked, i got a call from brady

it was a strange night, i was so high and drunk, and now me and brady are friends apparently

"hey" i answered, placing my phone between my shoulder and ear as i pulled out a cigarette.

"hey callie" he replied, "what you doing?"

"just on a walk. is there something you needed?"

"oh um.. no not really just wanted to see if you were okay. you were fucked up last night"

"yeah i'm fine" i chuckled, "woke up in my own bed so that's good"

"yeah" he chuckled back, "i had to carry you in"

"shit really. sorry" i smiled

"no i don't mind" i could hear him smiling back at me. "if you're not doing anything could i come pick you up? i wanted to talk to you"

"uh can it wait til later? i'm just out"

"not really. it's important." he spoke. it was silent for a second. "you're just on a walk, right? i'll come get you"

"i'm actually meeting someone" i reluctantly replied

he was silent for a minute, i thought the line dropped

"oh, cool" he responded. "who?"

"don't worry about it brady, i'll text you when i'm home. we can talk then"

another silence

"okay. be safe" he didn't even give me a chance to respond before he hung up

as the phone call ended, i realised i was already at the address.

i felt weird knocking, so i shot lev a text.

'just come in. first door on the left' he responded

i opened the door to the nice house, scanning the area
