"J I'm so exciiited" Iesha sung, from outside my room. I opened the door, to see her smiling face, she wouldn't sit still as she danced her body. Her eyes stopped at my outfit and she was no longer smiling nor dancing.

Her face transformed into confusion. "J, Jessie will be here in any minute now. I know you're not wearing that" she spoke crossing her arms with attitude.

"Girl there's nothing wrong with my outfit, I don't have to show skin to be cute" I said walking by her.

"You're right, it's not the outfit" she scoffed. "It's that hat, do you have to wear that thing everywhere" she whined. Ignoring her I payed her no mind and went bout my business.

White-boy followed me into the living area, I wore black jeans with my floral feminine top and I couldn't leave without my beret. White-boy began licking my black platform boots as I stopped at his bowl.

"In case you get hungry while I'm gone" I said to him as I poured food over his head and into the green bowl.

He brought his attention to the bowl and hovered over it. "Meow" he eventually left his food and jumped onto the couch laying in his usual spot.

Iesha rolled her eyes watching him from across the room. "My mother would never allow no animals on the couch if she was here" she whined.

Finally there was that knock at the door. Jessie began cracking jokes at my outfit, the second she stepped foot inside of course. Then Iesha decided to chime in, once they were done we began to walk after Iesha's lead. Our route required us to take the New York train and a little walk.

The line was almost down the damn block, my patience was already short from the beginning. "Oh no, Iesha, is this line for the club" I questioned whiny.

"Yes girl" she sung. "Now move those little legs so we can get there before the line gets any longer" she spoke in a rushing matter.

I ran with the two girls trying to keep up with them, we began running down the long line to get to the end. Before we could get down the line, a man with a familiar face wearing a red baseball cap to the side stood out. He was smiling flashing his grills, he only had eyes for Iesha, as he stood in the middle of the lune.

"Baaaby" he sung. Did the man even remember her name, he opened his arms for her with his big cheesy smile. Jessie and I stood back watching Iesha as she threw herself onto him. They hugged while he swayed back and forth with her in his arms.

My eyes judged every inch of him, from his baggy jeans that handed below his ass and sideways Yankees cap. He looked like every man that started trouble where I came from. Just like looked like all of the thugs on the streets in Cali. I knew Iesha liked that shit.
