"Sooo" Johnny said sing-song as I took my seat back in front of him. He leaned into the table with a witty smile on his face. "What happened" he hissed.

"We're going on that date, he told me to meet him at the desk upfront"

He sat up giving me a stink eye gapping his mouth. "Ohhh okay, fine, ditch me for him" he complained.

"Oh stop it, it's just this once" I shrugged.

"You say that now till you start to actually like the guy" he said shutting his book. "Come on, I'll take you to the front and get these books for us"

Johnny and I went to the front desk to check out our poetry books. While Johnny chatted it up with the librarian, Chris made his was to the front desk with the kid. They checked out the kids book and he paid for it. I watched as Chris said his goodbyes.

"I'll see you tomorrow" he said.

"Okay goodnight coach" the boy nodded his head before heading out.

"Get home safe" he stood by watching the kid leave before turning to face me.

Johnny sung low into my ear being a fool. "Ouuu girl that's you que" he put a subtle toothless smile on my face. "I'll see you later J" he said before leaving me and walking past Chris on his way out of the library.

Chris gave me a smile, while behind his back Johnny stuck out his tongue. I kept my cool and didn't break into an embarrassing laugh. "Where are we going" I asked.

"It's a surprise, I promise you'll enjoy it" he spoke with charm flashing his alluring smile. "Come on" he nodded for me to follow.

He held both heavy doors leading us out of the library and began to walk side by side. I followed, walking in the sidewalk while he walked on the side opposite of me closest to the road. With his hands in his pants pockets, I could feel him glance at me.

"What made you change your mind" he spoke in his low raspiness.

I tilted my head and thought on my response. "Honestly, I'm new to New York—"

"Nooo" he sung cutting me off. "You don't say" he spoke with sarcasm bringing me into laughter.

I leaned into him as I laughed at him freely. "Is it that obvious" I questioned.

"I can hear the east coast all in your voice, you don't even use east coast lingo, like deadass" he spoke direct.

I squinted one eye lifting my chin looking at him. "Deadass?"

"Deadass" he was serious, it was such a funny word I had to laugh. "Like deadass, this shit ain't funny, yo" he said, his was even cuter when he was trying to keep a straight face, he knew he wanted to laugh too.

"Okay, you have to admit that shit sounds stupid" I said.

He began to smile flashing his dimple. "Alright, a little bit" he shrugged.

The sun was nowhere to be found in the midnight sky, by the time we arrived to our destination. I honestly got lost in our conversation as we debated who had the best lingo, east coast or west coast. We stopped walking in the middle of our debate.

"Turn around, we're here" he said looking up over my head.
