Eric B. & Rakim played, just the sound of the melody almost brought tears to my eyes. Jessie sat besides me letting her hair down, she put her arms up and danced loosely with her eyes closed. She turned to me smiling from to ear to ear before nudging me.
"What's the matter with you Justice, why do you look sad. We need to get you a drink" she spoke singsong clapping her hands to the beat.
"This was Lucky's favorite song" I said wearing my long face.
"You need this, Ima get you a drink stay here" she said getting up. I watched as she disappeared into the pit of bodies dancing in the distance.
As I sat on the black leather couch I sighed, watching people enjoy themselves. Until I felt the couch deepen next to me. To my left sat Bone, he looked to me putting his arm on the back of the couch behind me.
"What's the matter Ms. Law" he spoke witty with his charming appeal. "You don't like the DJ?" He began bobbing his head with the music as we talked.
"No, he's good" I avoided his burning stare.
"Yeah, he is, do you dance?"
I began to laugh shaking my head no. He tilted his head with a humorous smirk across his face. "What's funny, you don't believe you're a good dancer" he tilted his head.
I finally gave in and looked at him. "I don't dance" I said direct. "Last time I did that was in high school"
He shook one leg while man spreading into his slouch. "What is dancing just for kids to you? I'm a great dancing, I can teach you"
"Like that dance you did almost coming in here? You're gonna get yourself killed messing with that big guy" I said matter-of-fact.
He lifted his chin and gave me a smile. "I ain't scared of nobody, miss west coast, I can tell your new around here. Everybody knows me out here, that bald motherfucker ain't gone do shit" he said objective with base.
"So you know everybody in here tonight, huh" I asked skeptical raising one brow.
"Yeah, if you don't believe me ask about me" he scoffed. His aura reeked of cockiness, it was even more of turn off coming from him.
"Ok, maybe I will and I'll ask them how you got that goofy name" I said widening my eyes playfully.
He looked stunned cocking his head back with a smile. "Goofy?" He got loud in his amused tone.
"Yeah it's goofy, silly"
He sat at the edge of the couch sitting up with a smile. "This hat is goofy" he spoke cometic.
I began to giggle and caught myself actually enjoying his wit for a moment. Until he began pushing his luck. His hand creeped onto my thigh, it was a nerve recking feeling, I was shocked at the nerve of him. He even began to grew closer to my neck, making my skin crawl down my neck and spine. Using my hand I grabbed his off of me and nudged him from me.
He put his hands up in surrender and began laughing. "It's not funny, keep your hands to yourself" I came at him loud and direct.
