I decided to make conversation and play along since he seemed harmless. "I met Iesha in high school together, but we really got close in cosmetology school"

"Oh okay, which school did you go to? Because I used to know someone that went to the cosmetology school in Brooklyn"

"No, no" I giggled urgently. "We went to school in Cali, we're not from here" I said lifting my chin briefly glancing up his tall figure.

"Okay" he chuckled. "I had a feeling" he looked to me. I glanced to see him raising his brows with his cheeky smile.

I caught myself cheesing a toothless smile looking at his handsome face. "Yeah, how so" I asked sing-song.

"You kinda sound like a valley girl" he shrugged in a serious tone.

"Uh-uh no the hell I do not" I raised my voice before he began to laugh.

"I'm only playing with you" he tilted his smiling face. "But seriously, you don't sound like most girls around here"

"Is that a good thing?"

He looked to me without speaking and stared for a second. I felt pretty in his gaze because he looked at me as if I was the only girl in the world. "Yeah" he nodded. "It's real good" he spoke in his raspy tone.

"We're here" Q sung opening the door, letting Iesha walk in first and I followed.

After making our orders and waiting for less than five minutes it was time to pay. Nine, fifty was my total for brown rice, chicken and vegetables. I dug into my bag around my shoulder for my cash until a hand reached around from underneath my waist.

In Chris's hand he held a twenty dollar bill. He handed it to the tired looking Asian woman across from the register. She snatched the bill with her attitude and I felt his body heat on my back. The whiff of his leather and bourbon cologne took over my nose again and I enjoyed every second of it.

"I got you" he whispered over my ear.

I cleared my throat taking a step away from him. "Thank you" I said direct.

After each of us grabbed our food and drinks, we met Q and Iesha sitting at a table. They took the best view facing the window, while we viewed them feeding each other lo mein off of their plastic forks.

"How romantic" I mumbled low. I guess I wasn't low enough because Chris began to chuckle to my right.

After stuffing our faces, we began heading back to the salon with the boys. This time Q and Iesha trailed behind us, so they could lock tongues.

"So how did you meet Q" I asked.

"We met in high school, now I can't get rid of him. Literally, he's like a brother to me but I'm the more mature one"

"Really" I asked in disbelief.

"Yeah, you don't believe me" he scoffed defensive.

"I didn't say that"

"Sure sounds like it, if you let me take you out on a real date, I can show you just how mature I really am"
