Aizawa did not know how he had reached this point in his life. After Emiko began attending UA, Izuku became a constant presence, which somehow turned into him looking after the kid.
Walking through the mall, Aizawa glanced at Mic and Izuku. Izuku bounced on the balls of his feet, ranting about some hero or another. Mic never seemed bothered by Izuku's endless questions. How he managed was far beyond Aizawa's understanding. Izuku paused, fell silent, and stopped the small group.
"Izu? Is everything okay?"
Izuku blinked, glancing at Aizawa with a nod. "Yep. Everything is fine." Izuku reached out, grabbing Mic's jacket.
"Well, that's a clear lie." Aizawa sighed, stepping closer. "Now, what's wrong? Do you want to go back?"
Before Izuku could answer, a loud explosion echoed from behind them. Screams echoed out as Aizawa stood up.
"Oh, shi—Alright, wait here and hold these. This won't take long." Aizawa ruffled Izuku's hair, put the bags down by the chair, and spun around. Ready?"
Mic screamed in delight, running forward and blasting away the villain as the battle began. Sighing, Izuku stepped back, shifting his form to that of a sphinx, curling up and slowly falling asleep beside the bags.
~~~
"You stupid villain, how dare you think you're even allowed in the same space as us!"
Blinking, Izuku grumbled. Who was waking him?! Pushing himself up, he wandered closer to the source of the noise. The voice was too young to be the villain. It must be some other horrible source of pain.
Whack.
Growling, Izuku's eyes snapped on the guy who threw the punch. The victim didn't even fight back as he slumped against the wall, his purple, very messy hair swaying over the distinct eyebags.
Roaring, Izuku charged forward, jumping over the group and standing before the tired boy. Snarling, he bit the closest hand, receiving a pained whimper from one of the bullies.
"Stupid cat! I'm not afraid of you!" The lead bully snarled, large claws coming out of his fingers as he stood taller, about to strike down.
"That's fine," Izuku responded, backing up with a smirk. "I'm not the one you should be afraid of."
Wrapping around the claw-hand thing, the white bandages pulled the bully back and face to face with Aizawa. "Do you want to say that again?"
"We're sorry, Izu. The villain's attack was a trap, and it took a bit longer to sort out than expected." Mic waved a light chuckle in his voice.
"That's fine, Uncle Mic, I was just getting acquainted with the local snacks." Izuku hissed his last word, feeling a surge of pride when the bullies coward.
"I wouldn't eat these, Izu. That's far too rotten for your tastes." Aizawa pulled the villain closer, glaring into his soul.
"W-We weren't g-going to hurt h-him," the bully stammered as Aizawa rolled his eyes, throwing him against the nearby wall and cracking his nose.
The bullies jumped up, running away as fast as they could. Tutting, Aizawa crossed his arms. "And this was meant to be our day off."
Turning to the purple-haired boy, Izuku shifted back, returning to his human form. "Are you alright?" He offered a hand to help the boy, frowning when he saw the bruise forming on his cheek. Most of the bruises were dotted along her neck and the rag-like clothes around his frame, making Izuku frown more.
"I'm fine-" Before the boy could finish, Izuku shut him off.
"No, you're not! Come on, I'm taking you to see Recovery Girl." Izuku grabbed the boy's arm and dragged him forward.
