"It's the UA sports festival. The one time each year when our fledgeling heroes compete in a ruthless grand battle. First up, you know who I'm talking about. The miraculous rising stars who brushed off a villain attack with their steely willpower! The first year of the hero course, it's class A!" Present Mic's voice echoed around the stadium as the crowds cheered loudly.
Izuku grinned, looking through the packed crowds. "Wow, it's even bigger than last year," Izuku smirked at Hitoshi, who sighed.
"Just great."
"We're expected to put on the best performance we can in front of so many spectators," Iida announced wobbly. "I suppose this is merely one more necessary skill if we hope to become heroes."
"They're really giving us too much credit, but we won't let it shake us, right, Bakugo?" Kirishima looked at Katsuki, who gave him a look back.
"If this is too loud for you, you shouldn't be a hero."
Izuku snorted, hopping over and grabbing Katsuki's arm. "Play nice, Kachan," Izuku sang as Katsuki sighed, looking away from Izuku.
"Follow class B, it's classes C, D and E of general studies. And here come the support course classes, F, G and H. And the business course."
The rest of the students walked out, grumbling amongst themselves. "We're here to make the others look good," a gen ed student muttered as his friend nodded.
"Hard to get motivated."
Izuku rolled his eyes, glancing at Hitoshi. "Every year."
"Now for the athlete oath," Midnight announced as different heroes started shouting at her. They were not happy she was teaching at a school. "
Hitoshi glanced at Izuku. "Every year."
"Shut it. Pipe down," Midnight screamed, causing the crowds to fall silent. "Your student representative from Class 1A, Katsuki Bakugo."
The class stopped in shock, watching Katsuki walk up to the stand.
"Of course, Katsuki is the rep. He did achieve first place in the entrance exam," Izuku explained with a smirk as the gen ed girl hissed at them.
"The hero course entrance exam, you mean."
"Izuku, don't," Hitoshi warned, but Izuku ignored him, glaring at the girl.
"You know, you don't actually have to be here, right? Only the hero, support, and business courses benefit from the festival, so all the others can only participate if they want to."
The girl stared in shock as Kirishima glanced at Izuku. "Is that true?"
"Technically, but the school doesn't tell them that." Izuku grinned, turning back to Katsuki on the stage.
"The athlete's oath, listen, try your best so this can be a proper fair competition. You better not hold back." Katsuki stepped away, as Izuku smiled sadly.
"He's lost his violence," Izuku mourned as Hitoshi gave him a weird look.
"Now, without any delay, let's get the first event started. These are the qualifiers. It's at this stage that so many are sent home crying every year. And the fateful first event this year is this," Midnight pointed to the screen above her where a fake wheel of fortune spun before landing on an obstacle course race.
"An obstacle course," Izuku paused before he grinned. "I guess Nezu does like to reuse his events. I wonder how he's made it worse."
"Focus, Izuku," Hitoshi hissed as Izuku rolled his eyes.
