Dario POV

I was currently out with Maritza. We were just chillin nothin else. She came back in town and I told her we'd hang if I was available. The other chick I was dating, I broke things off with her. The main reason being she left her phone open and I ended up seeing some convo with her and some other dude. So I was right. She was up to something. I couldn't believe that I wasted my time. I knew I was just trying to fill a void and it didn't even mean anything anyway. So it wasn't like I was heartbroken over it or anything.

So I was single and just hanging out with a friend. We were grocery shopping at Whole Foods as I needed some stuff and being with Janet had me eating a lot healthier than I used to.

"What else do you need Dario?"

"You still got the list?"

"Oh wait here you go."

We continued shopping and talking when I heard my phone vibrate. I saw that it was Janet. I was shocked that she did, but I didn't even answer. I just couldn't get into a long drawn out conversation with her at that point and I put it back in my pocket. By the time we were checking out and I glanced at my phone I saw that I now had a voicemail that was marked urgent. While Maritza put things on the conveyor belt, I listened to the message.

It was Janet saying that Eissa was in the hospital. My heart dropped. I thought I was gonna be sick. Oh..god...why?! I had just talked to him. And everything was fine. He was happy about some Roblox game and giving me all of the details about it. I had even told him that I'd buy some Robux just cause. Now he was in the hospital!!

"What's wrong with you?! You look pale."

"We gotta go! I gotta go now!!"

"Oh okay."

We quickly paid and left. I couldn't even talk in the car. My mind was racing. I needed to get to Eissa. Quickly!

"Dario what's wrong!?"

"I can't talk about it, but I have an emergency. I have to get out of town. I'm going to give you my keys so can take care of things at my place. You can stay there if you need. I trust you to do that."

"Okay Dario I got you."

When we got to my place, I quickly packed a bag and booked a ticket. Thankfully there were some last minute that were available and not too expensive. I texted Gil to let him know I was on my way. He texted saying he'd send Joey to come and get me at the airport. I was grateful for that. I could barely think. He texted asking if I talked to Janet, and I told him no that she just left a voicemail. He told me to not say anything and just show up. I had no idea what that even meant. I really didn't care.

I just needed to get to my little man Eissa. I was barely holding on as it was. I hadn't seen him in a while and missed him. When he was with Randy, he would call though. So that was cool. I loved hearing about his day at school or if he was with his tutor. He'd also tell me about his friends and some video games he was playing. Or how everything was going with baseball practice. I wasn't able to be around for his birthday, but I sent him something through Randy.

Randy eventually came around once he saw and heard how I was with Eissa. He knew I cared for him. He was actually grateful that Eissa had another male figure to talk to. And he knew he could trust me. I don't think he ever told Janet that I was still keeping up with Eissa either.

Once I landed and made it to the terminal, Joey was right there. He actually came up and gave me a hug. I was taken aback and not expecting that at all. I could see that this was taking a toll on him. We walked to the car getting in after I threw my bag in back.
