Don't Judge Me

Omniscient POV

"Hey hunny."

She didn't respond or even lift her head. Gil was looking in on her. She was curled up in the bed. He knew she had been crying all night and had not gotten any sleep. Her heard her sniffling. He laid next to her holding her. She started sobbing hard.

"You never listen to me. And you are so stubborn. And stupid! Why didn't you tell D what was going on? And be for real with me."

"I don't know honestly. Ummm maybe part of me will always love Mauldin. I mean we were talking about getting married at one point. I didn't want to lose that friendship even with him acting crazy. I didn't want to lose that."

"That is your past Dunk. If you mean it, Darius is your future. You gotta move on. I don't wanna say I told you, but I did."

"I know." She started crying again.

"Listen you have a man that loves you so much and is all in with you. I mean he really loves you. I don't care what he may have told you. He's not goin anywhere."

"He is. He broke up with me. We're done. He said so."

"He doesn't mean it. You can't be holding stuff in and hiding stuff from him. You can't have secrets if you're saying he's the one."

"Gilly he asked me if the baby was his?! How do I even respond to that. How could he ask that?"

"Well Dunk don't be mad, but I'm not surprised he did."

"You aren't?"

"No...well is it?"

"You're questioning me now?!" She sat up abruptly pushing Gil off of her.

"It's not like that."

"Really Gil?!" She was getting upset all over again.

"I know you and JD are close. He could try to hit it. He's like that. I mean what if you slipped up getting caught in the moment. You've slipped up in the past before when you were with Wissam's crazy ass."

"That was different. It was a completely different situation. I would never do that to Darius. I would gladly take a test if he needs it to know. Yes, it's his."

"Are you surprised he asked?"

"Yeah I am. I'm always with him."

"Not always. And you've been acting weird since you had dinner with JD. I told you that. You should've said something sooner."

"I know..."

"If you guys get the opportunity again tell him how you feel. Be serious and don't hide. You've still been holding back that small part from him. I know. I see it. If you all in, you have to let him have all of you the good and the bad."

"I've told him everything that happened. He was so mad. He wouldn't even hear me. He wouldn't listen."

"I'm talking about you and your feelings."

"I understand."

"I swear you two are gonna give me an ulcer and high blood pressure."

"Gil...listen I have to tell you something. It's important especially with what is going on now. Darius saying that he doesn't want to be with me is a bigger deal than you think. Him asking about the baby being his is even...it matters."

"Okay what's up sweetie? What's that mean?"

"Umm you're gonna be really upset at me..."

"It can't be that bad."

"Well....." She pulled at her ear.

"Oh shit!! What'd you do?!?"

"Do you remember when I said Darius had asked me a certain question some time ago?"

"What are you talking about?"

"When we went to that island together on vacation? He asked me to marry him?"

"Oh...oh yeah what about it?"

"Well we did."

"Did what?"

"We got married. On the island before we got back."

Gil stared at her blankly to trying to comprehend what she told him.

"No!"

"Yes, we did."

"Are you fuckin serious!?"

"Yes."

"How could you keep that from me?!" He was extremely upset at the news.

"We didn't want to tell anyone not yet."

"Holy shit Dunk!!"

"I'm really sorry for not being honest with you!"

"I don't know if I should be fuckin pissed or extremely happy for you right now!"

"Please be happy for me Gilly."

"I just can't... I can't believe you kept that from me!"

"Has he told anyone?!"

She shook her head.

"You're the first person that knows. Well Joey knows. We had to tell him with security and everything."

"Wow...wow!!! I can't believe you didn't say anything!!"

"I know. We wanted to just enjoy it with it being just us. And then we would start telling everyone."

"But I'm not just anyone Janet! I thought we were friends. I thought we were family! That was months and months ago. I can't even...listen you know how I am and I'ma be straight with you that was real crazy for you to not say anything. First y'all got back together and you didn't say anything...now this?! Before I say anything else that will hurt your feelings I'ma go."

"No Gil please don't!"

"Look just give me some time to let this marinate. I just...I can't believe you!" He got up and left leaving her sitting on the bed. After Darius breaking up with her and now Gil not talking to her, she felt like she had no one. She sunk deeper into the bed as she cried herself to sleep.

More days and nights passed of them not talking. It was starting to wear on him. He missed her. And he knew she missed him. He loved her so much. He never loved anyone like this before. It couldn't be healthy the way he felt about her. He gave her all of him. Something he had never done before. He didn't feel like she gave all of herself to him. He didn't know if a love like theirs would last. It was just not normal what they had.

Could he forgive? If he felt she was truly sorry, he could. He knew she didn't have sex with Jermaine. He knew that from her reaction when he asked her the question, but he had to ask. He had to be sure because Jermaine could be persuasive. He heard how he talked. He didn't know if he still had that kinda pull with Janet or hold over her.

She had told him some time ago that she had slipped up and had sex with him when she was Wissam. He understood the situation though. Things were different and she wasn't in a solid relationship. She was looking for an escape and he happened to be there. So he had to ask. He knew it was out of line the way he asked her, but he had to know. He had see how she would react and what she would say.

They had to figure out something. If they were going to be together, they couldn't continue with secrets. His other concern was the baby. He was sure she was stressed. He didn't want anything happening to the baby. Deep down he knew that the baby was his.

The problem that now remained, would they be able to get passed this? Could their relationship make it? Was it strong enough? That was something he didn't know and wasn't sure of.
