Ninjago Fanfic: The Lightning Serpentine

Chapter 32

"Keep fighting! Unh! Never give up!" Lloyd said. The Ninja struggled to hold their line from the stone warriors. "Ninja never quit!" Kai yelled. "Ninja-go!" Lloyd launched into Spinjitzu mode. The other four followed. That seemed to help. A few of the warriors flew away.

Evil Nya came back and shot purple lasers at the Ninja. Again, it worked... for the warriors. The Ninja were tossed back from the impact. Jay quickly held his blade to deflect an attack, but he was on the ground.

'Now would be a great time to do some hypnotizing, Jay!' He thought to himself. 'Wait, no! The warriors don't have hearts!! Wonderful! Now what?' "We're doomed, guyssss!" He yelled.

—Elders—

The three on the Ultra dragon soon spotted the Helmet of Darkness. "There it is!" Misako pointed. The helmet's bony part suddenly glowed. "Ah, finally, a little protection for my noggin." Dareth said, picking up the helmet.

"Wait!" Misako shouted. They were lucky this guy was on their side. "Eh, what?" Dareth asked. The bony part of the helmet glowed again.

The five were cornered, looking like flower petals, lying against each other's backs. Just as the front warriors were about to strike, everything stopped. 'Now that's weird.' Jay thought. One by one, the Ninja stood up.

Kai was the first one to flip off his hood. "What happened?" He asked, examining the warriors. "They are frozen." Zane said. "All hail the Brown Ninja!" General Kozu yelled. His sword was pointed upwards to the Ultra dragon. "What do you command?" He asked.

"Ahem. Brown Ninja?" Jay looked up, confused. "Eh-heh. What's up, fellas? Looks like we all know who's in command now." Dareth said. Ultra landed on the ground as the warriors cleared their way. "The helmet controls the army. Well done!" Cole exclaimed.

"Oh, that means now we stand a fighting chance." Jay realized. "I need to get to the top of that fortress. I may not be able to get there by myself." Lloyd said, looking at his foot. "But with your help, I can face him." The Green Ninja said. The original four activated their elemental blades and raised them on top of Lloyd, since he was in the middle.

Dareth walked towards them. "Where'd you get those?" He pointed to the elemental blades. "I want one." Kai put down his sword. "You too, Brown Ninja. Today, you're one of us." The Fire Ninja said, giving Dareth his blade.

"Shall we do it once more, just for old times' sake?" Kai asked. "Ninja, go!" Dareth used the blade to point up to where the Overlord was at on the top of the tall tower. "Army! Abouuuuuut face!" Dareth commanded, pointing to the start of the stairs. "Stone Army, gooooo!" The Brown Ninja shouted.

The army started charging up the stairs, but Nya shot them down with her purple-destruction-laser-thing. "You better get this back." Dareth handed the elemental blade back to Kai. The Ninja followed the Stone Army up the stairs. "Let's help them out." Misako said on Ultra. The four-headed dragon headed off as a lure.

Nya started to focus on the dragon and not the warriors. Well, dragons aren't really the best materials for tag. One of the lasers hit the dragon. "We're hit!" Misako shrieked. "We have to land. This is as far as we can go." Wu, who was still steering the dragon, said.

Dragon Overlord spewed a disgusting purple smoke-ball down the stairs, aiming at the Ninja. Kai and Zane were at the front while Cole and Jay were helping Lloyd from both sides. "Look out!" Jay shouted. He managed to pull Lloyd out of the way of the purple ball, but Cole wasn't so lucky.

Something was wrong. Something was really wrong with Cole now. "Cole. Come one. Get up." Lloyd urged. "Ugh. I'm hit. Go!" Cole said in alarm. "Go on.. eh... without me.. ugh." Lloyd put his hand on Cole's shoulder. "We need to move. Now!" Kai said.

Lloyd continued hopping with only Jay on his side. Meanwhile, Cole's skin turned gray and his eyes were really big and glowing purple. An inappropriate scene for this time popped in Jay's mind:

The Lightning Ninja thought about a salesman's voice saying "Introducing our latest news, EVIL COLE!"

Jay slapped those thoughts out of him. Kai was right. How can he be making jokes at a time like this? The Overlord had turned both his... well... yeah.. and his best friend evil! Now he's made it personal. But even with the rage inside of him, Jay knew that only Lloyd could defeat the Overlord. Only the Green Ninja had a chance...

Kai, Zane, Jay, and Lloyd were half-running up the stairs, dead silent. "Dang it." Jay muttered. His serpentine reflexes were helping him. The Overlord spat out another ball of darkness towards them. Jay sighed. He pushed Lloyd out of the way so that he was the only one that's hit.

"Jay!" Lloyd yelled. Kai and Zane looked back. "Get outta the way!" Jay said, shaking from the evil sinking in him. "Don't look! Just keep climbing!" Kai instructed. Now both Zane and Kai has one of Lloyd's arms around their necks.

"Ugh. From my calculations, with the distance remaining to the top, the odds are that only one of us is going to make it." Zane shared his calculations. "Then let's beat the odds. Let's–" Growling noises. Why were there growling noises?

The three looked back. Evil Cole and Jay had their blades activated, looking like zombies hunting down whatever human there is left... Aaaand, that's probably exactly what they're doing.

—Minds—

"Jay?" Jay heard Cole's voice. Jay rubbed his eyes. "What issss thiss placcce?" The two were looking at a black-purple-ish scene on some kind of rocky surface. "I have no idea." Cole admitted. "Wait, iss that–" Jay took off to another figure lying on the ground. "Nya?" Jay called.

"Looks like she's sleeping." Cole observed. Jay expanded his vision. "Just like they are." He said, pointing to the whole place of citizens sleeping peacefully. "Wait. What happened? And if they're assleep, why are we the only onesss awake?" Jay asked.

There was a small smile tucked at the corner of Cole's mouth. "What?" Jay asked. "Nah, nothing." Cole said. "Let'ss try to remember thingsss, then." Jay said. "Okay. What do you remember before all of... thissss?" Jay glanced at the people that's asleep.
