Ninjago Fanfic: The Lightning Serpentine

Chapter 25

Meanwhile, the Ninja were walking through a jungle. They reached the Bounty. Dr. Julien was looking like he saw a ghost. "What was that sound? The horns?" he asked. "The Celestial Clock has reached zero. Garmadon's Ultimate Weapon is now operational, and the Final Battle between good and evil has all but begun."

"Now Lloyd must face his father."  Misako added. "But where's Nya and Jay?" he asked. Zane put a hand on Kai and Cole's shoulders. "They've been taken by the Overlord, but they're strong, we'll get them back. At the moment, there are bigger things at stake, including all of Ninjago itself." Wu explained.

"Who cares about Ninjago?" Cole flipped his hood off, "Jay was my best friend, and Nya was his, uh, his... you know." "And she's my sister. I know them being captured is tough, but they're tougher. Tougher than most of us. We'll see them again." Kai sighed. Cole pulled out Jay's elemental blade and studied it. "Lloyd, your focus gives your strength to invoking the Power of the Golden Dragon. You cannot lose faith now. Everything rests on your shoulders." Wu said.

"But, Sensei, you saw what happened when I tried to face my father, I... froze. I can't fight him." he looked down. "You must. It is written in the scrolls." Wu said. "Remember, your father is just as scared." Misako said. "Then the battle will be decided by who is willing to fight." Wu concluded. "You won't be alone." Kai said, flipping his hood on and activating his blade. "I'll be right behind you. You have my fire." "You have my Earth." Cole said. "And my Ice." Zane did the same. But no Lightning.

Zane sighed, then made a statue of both Nya and Jay. "We're all in this together, kid" Cole promised. Lloyd flipped his hood on. "What are we waiting for? Let's suit up." Misako was ready to use her scroll container to fight, Wu was ready with his staff. Kai's Spinjitzu skills aren't rusty, Zane's switches were in good shape. Cole readied his elemental blade, and Jay and Nya's statues look great.

Lloyd's eyes were closed, then opened them. "I'm ready." Together, the Ninja ran to Garmadon's camp. "Get down, now." Lloyd instructed. "They won't know what hit them." Kai said. The Ninja looked at each other. "Time to chop wood." Lloyd said. "Ninja-go!" They kicked open the door, and the inside was... empty. Uh-huh, seriously. You bring them to an empty camp full of nothing? So much for the battlecry... The voice said in Lloyd's head and he mentally groaned. Shut up, he thought back, does he have to come back now?

Anyways, the voice has clearly become more sarcastic, like he is trying to not sneer any second Lloyd did something embarrassing. "Uh, where the heck is everybody?" Kai asked, flipping his hood off. "Ugh. And here I was ready to release the thunder." Cole said. See? Even Flamey and Rocky are shocked. The voice proved its point. Do you have to call them that? Lloyd thought and sighed. What do you want me to call them then? The Lava boys? The voice asked.

If Jay had said that, he would've laughed, but Jay isn't here. "The Ultimate weapon is gone. We're too late." Kai said. Lava boy number one said it, you're too late. Lloyd rolled his eyes, Just go back to calling them Flamey and Rocky. Ah, you said it yourself that I can call them that, Shortie. the voice said. Lloyd imagined growling, I'm not that short! Huh, sensitive, are we. Oops, I meant, are you? the voice laughed.

Just leave me alone, annoying guy! Lloyd thought. He really tried coming up with an insult, but nothing seemed to fit a voice, especially when it was a voice Lloyd rather liked. Kai started to walk across the wooden bridge. "Nya? Jay? Hello?" he called. The only thing they saw was Zane's falcon. "My falcon friend wants to show us something." Zane pointed out. They followed the falcon for a few seconds.

They found marks, tire marks. "Whoa, that's one big weapon." Lloyd said, And I bet you can't stand it, Greenie. The voice said. "It appears to be heading toward the coast." Zane said. "But why? Wouldn't he try to use it on us?" The Green Ninja asked. "Not on us, on Ninjago." The Sensei said. "He always wanted to turn our world into his own image. Now we know how it will be done. Though I suspect he'd leave something behind to slow us down."

"But is he starts turning things evil, the balance will shift and allow the Overlord to cross over to our world." Misako said. "Then we have to make sure that my father never fires that weapon. Zane, scan this place. Maybe the Stone Army is here somewhere." Lloyd looked around, then looked at the nindroid. "I detect no signs of anything except us." he said.

"Wait a second," Cole said, looking around, like he saw something familiar. Then, something familiar did appear, but he looked more... ticked off. His skin was gray instead of blue, and his eyes were purple.

–A few hours before–

Darkness, that's all Jay could see and feel, like it's trying to take over his body. After seeing Nya turn evil, he couldn't afford to turn evil too. He has to find a way to save himself then find a way to save Nya. Fight the darkness! He willed himself to remember the brighter things in his life. He was afraid to be rejected, that's how the Overlord tricked him, but this was different, his face was in pure evil!

Fight it, Jay! He thought to himself, something brighter than electricity might pull him back. But wait, what good would it bring to him? He might succeed, but then what? He can't escape. Even if he managed to escape, what'll he do? Go back to the Bounty to announce what a coward he was? No, and fighting wouldn't be an option either. His elemental blade was gone, and probably lost forever.

What if he let his friends cure him? Surely they could pull him back. But it took more than a smack in the head to pull him back when the Overlord influenced him to become evil, what does it take to pull him back from pure darkness? Hmm, anything?

–Now–

"Jay! It's us!" Cole yelled, pulling out the Lightning elemental blade. The Serpent remembered something, to... take out an important device of some kind. He took it out, what was it that could kill the Ninja once and for all? This device was kinda cute, though Jay definitely remembered that it could end the Ninja.

–Continuing the past–

Then think backwards. He thought about this idea. It's honestly not such a bad one, his hands slipped free of the warriors' hands and reached in his pocket. Great, the device was still there. Time for a little acting...

–Now–

Aha! A button! Jay pressed that button, and anticipated something bad to happen. Nothing. Oh, great, first smack some Ninja heads! He took out a pair of nunchucks, not sure where he got it from, but started fighting the Ninja. Jay swung the nunchucks, and took down Cole. The red Ninja next, he thought, making his way to take down Kai.

'I am a Hypnobrai! I won't be controlled by the darkness! Let go of me!' a familiar sound appeared, Jay turned around in confusion. Kai got his chance and knocked Jay in the back. Jay shook himself and wiggled his tail. 'You're wrong about me! This weird glittery mud can't consume me! I'll fight until my final breath!' his voice said.

–Zane–

So that was Jay's plan. Let's help operate it. Zane took the device Jay was taking, then set it in front of the Serpentine. "Jay, listen to yourself. Keep fighting the darkness, your plan has to work." he said. Kai made sure he was on the ground, the Serpent stopped fighting his hold that much. "You wanted yourself to think that this recording device could destroy us or something, so you could remember who you are again. You are Jay Walker, the master of Lightning, and an inventor." Zane said.

Jay was still fighting, he growled. "You made yourself think backwards, so that this gadget can pull you back. Remember? You and Nya were caught by the warriors, and you found your own way to break free of the um.. 'glittery mud' I suppose." Zane continued. Okay, last strike. "Look into your eyes," he brought a little mirror in front of him, "I control you." The color started returning to his scales. Jay's eyes turned back to red, and his scales were blue again.

Zane smiled, "Did it work?" Jay asked, still on the ground. Kai laughed in relief, "Yeah, you freaked us out." Lloyd looked at him, how did Zane know all that? Cole was sitting on the ground, amazed. "Nice job, Jay!" he exclaimed. "We just have one more member to save." Lloyd said.
