Impossible to forget

Lost in her own thoughts, Isha walked on the streets on her way back to home. As she walked on the streets, she thought about the closeness with Shantanu, which she shared a while ago with him.

That one encounter had brought a thousand unspoken feelings inside her. The way he acknowledged her as his wife, moving close to her, making her heart rate go higher by his touch and closeness, sent shivers down her spine as she remembered it.

By the sound of some people arguing with each other, she came out of her thoughts. She looked up in the direction of the yelling voices. There were two women arguing about something Isha had least interest to know about. She rolled her eyes at the scene, happening at a distance from her. She shifted her gaze elsewhere, but what she saw, made her heart stop.

His dangerous, revengeful eyes pierced right through hers. His hands were fisted in anger. He looked at her with an evil smile. Isha was too shocked to say anything, she couldn't even react. Her eyes grew wide. Her  heart started pounding in her chest as she memorized the trauma that person gave to her. Fear crept up to every vein of her.

She just stood there. Her feet felt numb. It was as if she could fall down any moment. Trying to keep herself strong, she closed her eyes and took a deep breath. As soon as she opened her eyes she saw a truck passing beside the man, blocking the view.

As the truck drove away and she looked back she saw no one. It was as if the man vanished along with the truck. A confused Isha walked little step towards the middle of the street, trying to find out if she really saw him. Not giving attention to the road and the honking, she walked.

Suddenly she felt a strong grip on her underarm, pulling her away from the road. In fear, she closed her eyes and started to defend herself by trying to push the man away.

"Chodo mujhe!" Isha's fearful voice came out. She felt his hands going towards her shoulders. "Isha, calm down!" His voice came out. Because of not being in her senses, Isha didn't stop pushing him away.

"Isha!!" He screamed, while shaking her shoulders gently. In a shock, Isha opened her eyes only to find herself in the grip of Shantanu. She only knew how grateful she was that it was he who was the one holding her and not the devil of a person she thought it was.

Shantanu looked confused at her. He literally heard Isha's heart beat. He wondered what and who scared her so much. He had the urge to hug her shivering body and protect her with everything he had. As he stood there, holding her shoulders, hearing the sound of her shaky breath, he just wished calm her down.

Seeing her sad and fear filled face, he gently let her shoulders go and pulled her in into a comforting hug. He caressed her back in a soothing manner. Isha didn't hug him back, her arms were beside her body. Her chin rested on his shoulder and her eyes were teary as the hug seemed to have the power to make her break down in his arm. But she tried to remain strong.

As much as she tried, tears felt down her eyes. She closed her eyes, while snuggling into his neck. She hesitantly put one arm of her on his back. Shantanu felt his neck getting wet, because of her tears. He caressed her more.

"It's okay, Isha, mujhe nahi pata ki kya Hua, but it's okay, it's all gonna be fine, okay?" He said, while caressing her hair. His comforting tone and voice calmed down her racing heart. All she wanted was to stay like this in his arms. To be lost in his arms. To feel protected like she felt now. To just have him with her. She closed her eyes more, causing more tears to fall down. She nodded slightly. Shantanu felt her head nodding against his skin and smiled a little.

Only Isha knew how grateful she was for him at this one moment. He knew that she didn't want to explain anything. He knew that at this moment the only thing she needed right now was comfort and assurance and he gave her that without she even asked for it.
