Hours passed like fleeting moments as Amelia ran through the maze of trees, her senses dulled by the heavy rain and darkness. Each step she took was a struggle, and every breath was a battle against exhaustion.

Just when despair threatened to consume her, a glimmer of light pierced through the darkness. With newfound determination, Amelia moved forward, her feet carrying her towards the beacon of hope amidst the gloomy forest.

As she drew closer, the light illuminated the edge of a desolate road, its surface slick with rainwater. Amelia's head spun with dizziness as she stumbled onto the side of the road, her vision going in and out of focus.

"Please, God, save me," she whispered, her voice barely audible above the pouring of the rain. "I don't want a pitiful death."

With a final surge of determination, Amelia clawed her way onto the road, her body collapsing in a heap of exhaustion. In that fleeting moment of unconsciousness, Amelia clung to the fragile thread of hope, praying that salvation would find her before the darkness consumed her once more.

A car cut through the midnight streets, "Only you can force me to drive you home at midnight. Why are you doing this to me? What's wrong, why are you so quiet?" That man's voice was strained, filled with a mix of curiosity and concern.

In the backseat, Aaron emerged from the shadows, his grey hair catching the dim light of the streetlamps, his blue eyes sparkling with a mischievous glint. His smile, genuine and warm, contrasted with the tension in the air. "Kevin," he said, his voice calm yet tinged with amusement, "I was wondering when you'd bring it up. His gaze flickered to Kevin, his features softening. "I was thinking," he began slowly, his words measured, "My life would have been difficult without you, Kevin, my knight."

Kevin chuckled, a sound that echoed through the car like a comforting melody. "Ah, so you are trying to say that I'm not a secretary but a knight in shining armor, am I?" he teased, but there was warmth in his tone, a silent acknowledgment of the bond they
shared.

Aaron shook his head, a small smile playing at the corners of his lips. "Not quite," he replied, his voice filled with sincerity. "But you're the one I can always count on, no matter the hour."

The silence that followed next was filled with unspoken gratitude. For Aaron, Kevin wasn't just a colleague or a friend; he was a lifeline.

"But Aaron," Kevin spoke up after a moment, his voice gentle yet firm, "even though we're friends, and I work at your brother's company, don't forget that I am a married man so stop calling me for help at midnight"

Aaron sighed, his gaze fixed on the road ahead. "You know my mom arranged a blind date for me earlier this evening, but I didn't go. Even though it's already midnight I am sure she is still awake so, If I go home now, she'll start nagging me," he explained, a hint of tension emanating from his words.

Kevin raised an eyebrow, genuine interest flickering in his eyes. "Don't you want to get married, Aaron?" he asked, his curiosity evident.

Aaron shifted uncomfortably in his seat, his thoughts drifting to a future he couldn't quite envision. "I want to marry someone I'll fall in love with," he confessed, his voice tinged with a shy smile.

Kevin nodded thoughtfully, his gaze lingering on Aaron. "But when will that happen? You've never been in a relationship, and you're also a virgin," he pointed out, his words laced with teasing humor.

Aaron felt a blush rushing up his cheeks, embarrassment flooding his senses. "Stop it, Kevin," he protested weakly, his discomfort evident. "I'm not like you. I'm conservative, and I want to save myself for my future wife," he added, his voice firm with conviction.

Kevin's laughter filled the car, the sound echoing. "I think you'll be single forever," he teased.

Aaron became enraged at Kevin's comment, his pride hurting by the remark. "Maybe," he said, a touch of rebellion in his voice. With a quiet resolve, he continued, "But I'd rather wait for the right person than settle with just anyone."

So, what type of girl do you like?" Kevin asked, his tone playful.

"I don't have a type, but the moment I see my fated partner, I'll know she's the one." Aaron admitted that his voice was filled with softness.

Suddenly, Kevin slammed on the brakes, the screech of rubber against asphalt filling the air. Aaron's heart leaped into his throat as the car lurched to a stop "What's wrong?" he asked, his voice tinged with fear. "Why did you suddenly stop the car?"

Kevin's face was pale, his eyes wide with shock. "It looks like there's a girl lying on the road," he stammered, his voice barely above a whisper. Aaron's breath caught in his throat, a cold shiver running down his spine. "You didn't hit her with the car, did you?" he asked, his voice trembling.

"No, I didn't hit her," Kevin replied, his voice strained. "I think she was lying there even before we came." Aaron swallowed hard, his mind racing with wild possibilities. "It's not a ghost, right?" he asked, his voice barely audible. Kevin rolled his eyes, his expression irritated. "Stop being childish," he rebuked. "Let's go outside and check."

With trembling hands, Aaron opened the car door and stepped out onto the heavy rain. The night air was thick with tension as he approached the figure lying motionless on the ground and Aaron's heart is pounding in his chest as he knelt down beside her, his hands shaking as he reached out to touch her cold, injured and lifeless body.

But as his fingers brushed against her hand, he felt a faint pulse beneath his fingertips. Relief emerges from him as he realized she was still alive. "She's alive," he breathed, his voice filled with awe. Kevin joined him by her side, his eyes wide with disbelief. "What do we do?" he asked, his voice trembling.

Aaron hesitated for a moment, his mind racing with possibilities. Then, with a determined glint in his eye, he reached down and gently lifted the girl into his arms. "I will take her home," he declared, his voice filled with conviction. "And I will make sure she's okay."

As Aaron carried her back to the car, he carefully pulled the hair aside from her face revealing the stunning beauty was Amelia as her blonde hair was shining in the moonlight night Aaron couldn't help but feel a sense of purpose rush over him. In that moment, he knew that his life was about to change forever. And as the car drove off into the night road, the faint sound of his heartbeat echoing in the darkness, he couldn't help but wonder what fate had in store for him.

But Aaron was certain for one thing: whatever lay ahead, he would face it with courage and determination.
