A/N: hope you don't mind that I'm making this a modern AU! Also don't mind the fact I kept using mother. I was writing Mum and it made the whole story way too British 😭
Prompt #8: "just pretend to be my date"
You came into your 9 to 5 job, as a receptionist at a garage. You were in a particularly foul mood. Your sister's wedding was this weekend, and you just knew the teasing you'd get from your family was gonna suck.
"You didn't give me the damn forms I asked for" Kid spoke up as he walked into the reception area. You scoffed turning to look at him. "I just got into work. Give me five minutes to print them off". You looked at the man you hated so much. You got on with everybody at work, except this man. He was always grumpy and pain to be around.
With a sigh you started printing his forms off. Kid wasn't sure what it was about you that he hated, you were just annoying to be around. Usually you were a ball of energy, cheerful and it directly went against his own personality, but today you looked upset. He didn't know what compelled him to ask but he did.
"What's got you so pissed off?" Kid asked, looking down at you. You sighed and decided to just be upfront and tell him. "It's my sister's wedding..". Kid suddenly let a smirk fall onto his face. "What, you not excited to see your sister get hitched.. oh I get it you're jealous".
You groaned, you wanted to hit his smug face. "No. I'm not jealous. It's just I'm the family disappointment every year I show up single it's always how much of a failure I am compared to her" you found yourself ranting without even realising.
He looked surprised as you started ranting. It's as if he'd forgotten you weren't some perfect human, you had issues just like he did, and clearly you needed to let it all out if you were venting to him about it.
Kid took a seat on the edge of your desk, looking at you, his expression seemed very genuine as if he was interested in what you were saying. "Yeah I get it. My folks are the same. Nothing I do is right. Annoying ain't it"
