As the front door knocked you sighed, you weren't expecting anyone today and your brothers hadn't said if they were. You walked downstairs to answer, but Luffy ran past the stairs making it to the front door, whipping it open whilst laughing.
Your eyes widened seeing your boyfriend stood at the door. You weren't dressed for this, your hair was a mess, what the hell was he doing here. You walked towards Luffy who was letting him inside. "I didn't think we had anything planned for today?" You questioned Shanks who smirked at you in your much more casual clothing.
"We don't. Luffy here invited me" he informed. You narrowed your eyes at Luffy. "So you two just hang out now, without me?" You placed a hand on your hip. "Sabo and Ace asked me to invite him here, since you wouldn't" Luffy argued, throwing them under the bus to spare himself.
"No way" you groaned, almost facepalming. They didn't even warn you, probably on purpose so you'd look like a slum when he arrived. Right on queue the devils themselves showed. "Our guest is here Ace" Sabo spoke up first. "Come on in. Shanks was it?" Ace spoke next, gesturing for him to follow.
You groaned, as Shanks just laughed, following your brothers further into the house. This was going to be disastrous. You glared back at Luffy. "You'll pay for this" you grumbled, quickly following after Shanks. Luffy walked after you too, cackling over your threat.
Shanks sat on an armchair whilst Ace and Sabo occupied the sofa. Luffy quickly stole the last spot on the sofa meaning you'd have to sit on the floor. "Don't worry saved you a seat" Shanks grinned patting his lap. Your eyes widened, as Ace and Sabo's eyebrows twitched in annoyance.
"He's just joking" you awkwardly laughed, taking a seat on the floor next to Shanks, you'd strangle the man right there if you could, but something tells you he'd probably like that.
"Right we heard from Luffy you have quite the humour" Sabo spoke up, a little dubious of if he was actually joking or not. Clearly he didn't approve of Shanks' type of humour either.
"Oh really?" Shanks made himself more comfortable, placing his hand on you, he liked to always be touching you. "That's nice of you Luffy" he added.
Luffy had a grin like he had just been praised by a god or something. Ace has his eyes trained on Shanks' hand that seemed to not leave you. "I guess you've had a long time to work on your jokes huh?" Ace finally chimed in, jabbing at Shanks' age.
You furrowed your eyebrows, shooting a glare at Ace, who only looked back with his unbothered gaze. Shanks simply snorted. "Yeah kid, I have". You closed your eyes and sighed. Ace wasn't going to love being referred to as kid..
"Well-" Ace started before he was cut off by Sabo. "So what do you do for work Shanks? We'd really just like to get to know our sisters partner that all..". He turned at looked at Ace. "Right?" Sabo added. Ace grumbled but nodded in agreement.
"Corporate, boring stuff really" Shanks informed, waving them off. "He's rich you know" Luffy grinned, highlighting how humble Shanks was trying to be. Ace scoffed, and Sabo's eyes widened. "Well uh.. that's great" Sabo nodded, realising that perhaps they weren't just dealing with their sister's much older boyfriend, but dealing with someone who could potentially be a bit powerful.
"Yeah it's not a bad deal, I've had many years to work my way up after all" Shanks smirked, leaning back. You bit your lip, there was no way on earth your brothers attempts at intimating or shaming him would ever work, he's too confident and proud.
"Just how old are you anyway" Ace asked, finally cutting to the chase. "My guess, would be 45" He continued, trying to rile Shanks up, however Shanks just laughed. You watched as Sabo elbowed Ace, clearly experiencing some second hand embarrassment through him.
"45? Damn do I look that rough". Shanks continued laughing. You rolled your eyes. "He's 39" you informed them. Ace and Sabo gave each other a side eye, you knew they didn't approve of a man nearly double your age, but they also knew they couldn't exactly argue against it, on the intimation scale they were clocking in at a -1.
"Close enough" Ace pouted, averting his eyes. It seems your boyfriend won this one, for now.
