Bryan's POV
I may have been dating Inpu for around three years now, but I never felt fully safe with him.
It could've been the fact I didn't fully trust people being a hero and all, but whenever he had friends over, I always felt very suspicious.
Like we normally did, we were snuggled up while watching the news before we switched it over to something else we wanted to watch, when we heard a knock on the door.
Inpu went to open the door, just leaving me on the couch, but I was very suspicious as to who would be coming over this late at night.
I really didn't want to intrude, but I really didn't want to have someone I didn't know come in cause it could've been a risk to my cover has it been someone who knew my voice from being a hero.
"Babe, who is it?" [Bryan]
"A friend of mine, mind if I let him in for a bit, I need to grab something for him" [Inpu]
"Its your apartment, do as you please" [Bryan]
He soon brought over someone who I didn't recognize, they clearly weren't paying me any mind.
I was trying to listen in, but the only thing I was able to fully understand was that the friend was picking up something.
Inpu went into another room to grab whatever it was he needed to get, so I just sat on my phone to avoid conversation, but then the news started to talk about a recent crime that almost sent me to the hospital if it weren't for my healing.
"It really is a shame, isn't it" [Bryan]
"The city was quiet for years before Nightmare and his gang showed up, I feel like it was overdue for us to get a villain" [???]
"Xylo, enough, not the time for that" [Inpu]
"Come on, you know I'm right, the place was too quiet" [Xylo]
"We moved in a week before everything bad started to happen, Bryan here knows better what it was like before Nightmare and his gang, right, babe?" [Inpu]
"Yeah, it was quiet before Nightmare, but we had our fair share of crime, the Glowing Angel has always protected us though, Nightmare is the first enemy who has lasted more than a month" [Bryan]
"Don't worry, my love, no matter what happens, I'll make sure you're safe" [Inpu]
"Anyways, I'll see you tomorrow, Inpu" [Xylo]
"Alright, see you then, tell your spouses I said hi" [Inpu]
Xylo left soon after, but I couldn't help but feel like I knew his voice.
Inpu went to put away something, so I decided to use the time to think about where I knew his voice from.
That's when it hit me, he had the same voice as Evernight, Nightmare's second in command, my only question now, how did Inpu know him?
Once Inpu finished what he was doing, he sat next to me on the couch again and put his arm around me, so like normal, I snuggled up, but my mind was wandering all over the place.
It became obvious that Inpu noticed, so he turned off the tv and directed his attention to me.
"You ok? You seem worried"
"I think, how do you know Xylo exactly?"
"He's a friend from high school, we started working together shortly after we graduated"
"Oh, alright"
"Somethings on your mind, please tell me what's wrong"
"Remember how I said a week ago when I was walking to work I was stopped by Evernight who was trying to force me to hand over everything I had cause he didn't like that I was walking to work?"
