Isla's Pov

The morning after the club was a haze. As I slowly surfaced from the depths of sleep, the memories of the previous night flooded back to me in disjointed fragments. I winced as the sunlight filtered through the curtains, the brightness amplifying the dull ache in my head.

Blinking groggily, I tried to piece together the events of last night. I remember winning against Villa, the club's overwhelmingness, and Leah's comforting presence by my side. But there are so many gaps in my memory.

As I sat up, the room spun slightly; I closed my eyes, willing the dizziness to pass. I searched for my phone, squinting at the screen as I scrolled through the messages and notifications. Shit, I forgot to text Millie, I text her quickly, apologising profusely while telling her I'm at Leah's. There was also a text from Katie checking to ensure we got home okay, but I didn't respond because I was literally in her house. The sound of footsteps outside Leah's bedroom door pulled me from my thoughts. With a heavy sigh, I pushed myself out of bed, bracing myself for the inevitable onslaught of questions and concerns from teammates, especially Leah.

Leaving the bedroom, I found Leah making a cup of tea in the kitchen. She looked up at me as I entered, a soft smile on her lips.

Leah: "Morning, sleepyhead." Leah greeted, pouring me a cup of tea along with her own.

In return, I managed a weak smile, sinking into a chair at the kitchen table.

Isla: "Morning." I mumbled while rubbing my temples

Isla: "How bad do I look?"

Leah chuckled while handing me the steaming mug of tea.

Leah: "Not too bad, considering. You definitely had a rough night, though."

I just nodded, taking a grateful sip of the tea. The warmth spreading through my body, chasing away some of the lingering effects of the alcohol.

Isla: "Thanks." I said, meeting Leah's gaze.

Isla: "For everything last night. I don't know what I would have done without you."

Leah's gaze softened as she reached her hand across the table, squeezing my hand.

Leah: "Hey, that's what friends are for, right? We look after each other."

I nodded as I felt a lump form in my throat. Even amid chaos, I was overwhelmed by the depth of Leah's kindness and support.

Isla: "So, what's the plan for today?" I asked, trying to change the subject. I wasn't sure I was ready to confront the events of last night yet.

Leah shrugged, taking a sip of her own tea.

Leah: "No plans, really just taking it easy. You should probably get some food in you, though. It'll help with the hangover.'

I grimaced at the thought of food as it made my stomach churn.

Isla: "Maybe later, I'm not really hungry right now."

Leah nodded understandingly, leaning back in her chair.

Leah: "Fair enough. Just take it easy today, okay? And if you need anything, I'm here."

I smiled gratefully, feeling the warmth spread through my chest. Despite the headache and the nausea, I knew that everything would be okay as long as Leah was by my side. Suddenly, a wave of nausea hit me hard, and I stumbled to my feet, rushing to the nearby trash can. Leah quickly followed, holding my hair back as I retched violently.

Leah: "Oh, Isla, let it all out. You'll feel better."

I gasped between heaves, my body trembling with the effort. After what felt like an eternity, the nausea subsided, leaving me weak and shaky. I sank to the floor, leaning against the wall, tears of exhaustion and embarrassment pricking at her eyes. Leah knelt down beside me, rubbing her hand in soothing, circular motions on my back.
