Miranda's POV

Life is...better. It could be worse, you always knew that, but somehow it wasn't. Ever since you and Misty made up as friends, or whatever weird thing you both were, your life had been a bit...brighter to say the least. Literally and figuratively. Misty had helped redo your entire home...and by helped, you mean doing everything herself without telling you as a surprise.

Honestly, you didn't hate it, you actually loved it, the place was brighter, your notes were cleaned and easy to find now, and she even revived your plants you'd been neglecting for months. Overall the place looked less dreary, less...depressing. You sipped your tea in your study, redoing most of your poorly written notes. You kept the room dark out of habit and the only light you allowed yourself to provide was the small light of your lit candle. As you scribble down some incoherent notes, the sound of rustling comes from the living room and you nearly flip the table in irritation.

While you had rekindled your relationship with Misty, she's been no less annoying. If anything she's been even more annoying. You paused your notes for a moment, you counted down. 5...4...3...2...1...Misty burst in without knocking, a grin on her face.

"Hello Miranda!"

She said cheerfully and you hissed at the light flooding into the dark room. You glared at her and she only laughed.

"You look like Sméagol from Lord of the Rings!"

She cackled and leaned on the door while you gave her a puzzled look. You've heard of the book The Lord of the Rings, but had never read it. Either way, you deemed it an insult and scowled.

"Pest."

You muttered bitterly and stood up.

"What do you want?

She grinned as you brushed past her.

"I ran out of flour and need more. Can I have some?"

You gave her a flabbergasted look. She came...for just some flour? You snapped out of it and waved your hand dismissively.

"Sure."

You said dismissively and pointed to a cupboard in my kitchen.

"In there. Now get your flour and go."

"Why? Don't want to see me?"

She teased and you rolled your eyes. Oh how wrong she was...you wanted to see her every damn day of every second.

"I have a meeting to go to. And before you ask, no you cannot come."

You said quickly and Misty rolled her eyes playfully.

"Alright grumpy gus. I get my flour and leave."

She grinned and walked into your kitchen to grab some flour. You simply walked away and disappeared in a flurry of feathers, teleporting to the Family Meeting.

At the Meeting

Miranda's POV

You stand at the podium and the room goes quiet. Everyone is sitting in their respective seats, Alcina in her red chair and somehow still holds her weight, Karl right across from from, and Salvador near you but far enough away so you don't have to deal with him.

"Mother Miranda."

Alcina spoke, her posh Romanian accent carrying in the room. She was obviously bored but trying to be respectful.

"May I ask as to why we are here exactly? The next meeting isn't until next week."

Before you could answer her question, Karl jumped in.
