Description
Luka watches her come daily to the cafeteria. He notices she never buys anything. She sits alone and never eats anything. He works there and feels sorry for her. Who is she, and why doesn't she eat anything?
Will things ever change for her or will they remain the same?
Luka's POV:
I was on my usual daily shift at the cafeteria. Today, I saw a new girl come inside and I smiled at her.
I saw her sit alone, but that is not what troubled me the most. I thought it strange she did not buy anything and I did not see her arrive with a lunch box. I felt sorry for her.
Why was she alone? Why did not she have any food?
Did she forget it at home and feel too embarrassed to say as much?
Soon, the bell rang and the students left for their afternoon classes.
The mysterious girl stood up and picked up her backpack. The site of it made me frown. It looked a bit worn out and far too heavy for her.
Yet no one came to help her.
I shook my head. Why didn't someone do something?
It was not right, for her to carry such a burdensome bag and to have no lunch.
I climbed up and went home. I hoped the next day would be better for her.
The next day, I smiled as the students came in for lunch.
I frowned when she sat at the same table as yesterday. I noticed she had the same bag, but no food.
I could not help but think that was odd. Why should she be without something to eat again?
Time skip!
Before I knew it she had been here an entire week, and I had yet to see her eat something.
I frowned when sat down without food today. Why was not anyone doing anything about it?
I was about to ask her and offer her something to eat. A boy came by and gave me double the amount needed for his lunch. "Uh, there must be some mistake," I said.
"No, mistake, sir, I am buying for two," The boy said.
"Two?" I asked surprised. "Yes, see she is with me," The boy said with a grin and pointed to the girl sitting alone.
I didn't argue. I took the money and served the food on both trays that he held up. I watched him and smiled as he sat across from the girl. I saw him offer one of the trays to her. I saw her shake her head.
I saw the boy smile and whisper something to her. The girl blushed and started to eat.
I was glad for once someone had come to help her.
Where had the boy come from and why had not I seen him before today?
