  Zoe's POV:

I  was shocked. Luka proposed to me.

We have been dating for two months, but I did not expect him to propose. I said yes because I am so happy he loves me. I love him. I sigh from contentment as he places the ring on my finger.

The apartment is a bit lonely. I don't say as much since Luka would rather not hear that now. I show him the photos of today's job and he scowls.

"What is the matter?" I ask him.

"I do not approve," he said. "Don't approve of what, exactly?"  " I disapprove of your posing with that man in such a lewd choice of attire," he said. "I will quit the job then if it means, that much to you," I smirked.

I called my boss and told him I quit. I heard him yell some vulgar words I would rather not repeat.   I  watched to see if he noticed the carrier I had brought.  I saw the gleam in his eyes as he looked at me with a hint of curiosity. "Hey, there," he said. He spoke softly as he looked inside at the small puppy.   "The dog is yours, I named him Sparky."  "Sparky, nice to meet you," he said.

I laughed when he let Sparky out. The dog licked my wrist and then Luka's left arm. I could tell he liked the dog despite his trying to protest.

I sat holding Sparky on my lap as my fiance played a song for me. The notes lifted my spirits like none other had.  Luka pouted when he saw the attention the puppy had gotten from me. I felt bad for him, being jealous of an innocent little animal. I stood up and kissed Luka on the lips. The dog winning and trying to nip at my ankles.

The two of us went out for a celebratory meal, Sparky staying behind as if he somehow knew it was a private event. We arrived at the restaurant grateful to have some time alone. The meal was good, but I hardly remember any of it due to the excitement.

"Hey, everyone, this is my future  wife!" Luka announced. I blushed.

The restaurant full of people cheered.  An old lady wept and dabbed at her eyes with a handkerchief. I heard her say, "Young love, it is beautiful."  I will never forget that day.

          Fast Forward...

Eight months later, I am getting married to Luka tomorrow! I can hardly wait. Goodness, so much has happened since our engagement.  I was Juleka's bridesmaid not long ago, and soon, I will be the bride.

I never imagined in my wildest dreams this day would ever come.  I am so happy.

Sparky barks when he gets excited.  Luka sent him to keep me company for a few days, but I think it was because he worried about my safety. It is silly because the apartment I stay in is safe, and besides, I have a roommate, my half-sister Chole.  Chole and Nathaniel are married but have no children. I feel bad for them as they do want children. Well, all in due time.

Tonight, I barely sleep because of all the excitement for my big day.

The next day, I woke up hearing Sparky growling. Strangely, he does not usually growl. I look out the peephole and see a skunk peeing on the tree in the front yard. Ew! I watch as he leaves glad I was not outside with that horrid animal.

I started getting ready.   Once done, I put a nice bow on Sparky. Now, we are both ready, for the wedding. Sparky will be our ring bearer.  Yes, he did an excellent job last night during the wedding rehearsal.  I exit the door with my purse, overnight bag, keys, and Sparky. I locked the door grateful for the company as I made my way to my car. I was a bit nervous driving it. It was an early present from Luka. He had surprised me with it after the rehearsal dinner and rehearsal itself. Wow!

Sparky paused for a quick toilet break, then jumped into the back seat.

I  drove to the church arriving in plenty of time. I entered with Sparky not far behind me. I could tell he was almost as excited as I was. I was glad he went out before we left so that he did not make a mess of the hydrangea bushes outside the church.  We entered the building making our way to the waiting area. I  felt like a nervous wreck.

Sparky adjusted my veil for me. "Thanks, Sparky," I said. He stood proudly holding the small pillow with the ring on it.  I  heard the music start. I watched as the flower girls, the bridesmaids, and finally Sparky entered the sanctuary. I gulped as I heard, my cue as the music played, "Here Comes the Bride." I entered feeling more nervous than ever. I smiled as I arrived at the front where Luka waited for me.

I was glad my Dad had made it to the wedding after all. Luka's dad was there too along with his stepmom, Penny.  I waved to them and stopped once I was next to my groom.

I repeated the vows as practiced and Luka did the same, exchanging rings, and lighting the unity candle carefully to avoid catching anything on fire.  I smiled when the pastor announced, "You may now kiss the bride."  Luka lifted the veil and kissed me. I kissed him too.

There was not a dry eye in sight as we turned around together. I smiled. At the reception, I barely remember much about it. There were a lot of family and friends in attendance. I was glad they had all come to see us on our special day.

At some point, I was asked, "How did you know Luka was the one for you?" "Easy, he played the Music to my Heart," I said.

   The end...

bye-bye,

little owlets!

Summer out!
